Yesterday's skeeting proved as cold as anticipated, but the sun was out, so there was that and the wind wasn't doing more that gentle breezy from time to time. Aside from the cold, it was about ideal. When I'd pre-registered there were only a dozen signed up to shoot, but there were 41 entrants that made it and shot, so a good turnout for a one-day shoot. There were 26 shooting in my class for the first event and 25 for the second w/the majority being yutes on the way up while I had earned my being there by shooting my way down due to eye dominance difficulties that I've been wrestling with for a very long time. Shot the 1st box okay in the first event, second one was even better, no straights, but staying over 80%. Third box the X-fire demon made its appearance and remained for the rest of the day. It happens. Ended up one target shy of my goal of 80% or better in the 1st event. And well shy of that in the second due to the wheels coming off on the last box. Class wise, I was mid pack in first event and a bit lower than that in the second, but still well off the bottom. Winner in my class scored in the mid 90% range in first event and low 90% range in the second. I won 'Veteran' in both events and HOA in that concurrent category. There are points awarded and it's a generally a honors only official form of recognition in registered skeet shooting. The ten bucks optional purse money that I'd put in for 'HOA in class' went to others yesterday who did a much better job than I. I'd 'balked' a total of 9 times(!) over the eight boxes, due to not having the correct sight picture and my addled brain knowing it. Other misses I had zero clue that I was 'wrong-eying' the target until after the shot was taken.

Not a new problem for me, it just depends on the day, BP, blood sugar levels, how tired I am and a myriad of other things that had just as soon take the moon phase, taro and whot I'd eaten last time I was in Montevideo into account as well.

'Twas a good day and I enjoyed it, tho I could have, should have and would have shot better... had I been able to. It just wasn't in the cards.

Bride made some killer good gumbo that we began eating Friday night and finished yesterday watching the football games. She used some 'seafood'/fish stock rather than water for the base and it made a recognizable difference in the finished product; one we each thot was a nice improvement to its taste. The filé we used as a condiment said it was picked & ground in August during a full moon. There has to be some Creole reason for that, but it eludes my finding it. Don or Mike may know of such things. I don't, but guess the sassafras leaves must be at their voodoo apex... or sumpin'.

My BP meds have gone up over 25% since the last refill. Latest pump prices for corn-swill are now up to $3.25/gallon locally at a lot of places and finding it at an even $3 is now a
very good deal.

And then I read of Russia putting 140 ships into play for some 'exercises' they are intended to participate in and wonder how much fuel is being consumed for that to take place vs. the number of folks that might be kept warm in cold places w/that same fuel, not that it changes anything. Kroger's had their 20# bags of black oil sunflower seed knocked back to $13, so I snagged one to add to my present mix of bird seed on hand, since I'd stopped to pick up an RX and some more shrimp for the gumbo on my way home after shooting. Fresh caught shrimp have gone up in price too.
I had trouble staying awake long enough to see the end of the Packer's game... and season as it turned out, last night. Quite the upset and plenty cold on the field. Both of yesterday's games were good ones, I thot. Hope that it remains that way thru the end of this season. A good football game can be a good two~three hour diversion. Will be interesting to see how today's games go.
The sun is out again today, and the weasels are saying it will reach 62 this afternoon. Its 38 now, RH 60%, wind Vrbl 3. Bride is fixin' us some breakfast, but I have not bothered to ask whot, knowing it will be fine. Slow to get moving this morning. I May go and shoot some helice this afternoon. 30% chance of rain tomorrow. Have an appt. w/my car guy at 8 A to install the new front axles on the Odyssey. Should be done in a coupla hours. Had them in hand withing 24 hours of ordering.

:bthumb: Delivery is fine; trick is in ordering product on hand.
Just got summoned to breakfast. Y'all have a good day!
