Nope ,doesn’t work that way anymore. Find the right wmr barrel kit .6 screws. Inand out.

You could do that. You will get different opinions from everyone over the .223 and .224 bore. I just bought a 22 magnum American barrel and had it cut down to 16” and threaded for mine. You could sell the scout barrel to offset the cost of your decided to go that route.

It will be much less costly and probably much less headach if you just pick up an American 22WMR barrel and be done with it. You won't have iron sights this way, but also won't have any hindrances with a scope.

Not much of a fan of the rear sight on the scout barrel, but if you used a peep on the action that would make a bad little rig! I used one on my 22 for a while. In fact you kind of make me want to try it myself.

 

If you have it rechambered to .22WMR you must buy a .22WMR magazine and remove the magazine block.

 

yea! but I have the trainer rear sight on mine and I don't want to give that up.

 

I think theirs a couple 22 wmr barrels for sale on the market place.. probably as cheap as getting a smith to thread the barrel

The problem is finding a local gunsmith with the right reamer. You could rent a reamer and do it yourself.

or, you can rent it and have a local gunsmith do it for you.

 

This thread has me thinking, I might just rechamber a 22LR barrel to to 22 magnum . I’ve been known to do unconventional things in the past. My first 223 bolt action was a Remington 700 that started life as a 222 magnum. I shortened it one full thread and ran a 223 chambering reamer in it . That worked out rather well . I’ve got an extra CZ 22 barrel, and my friend has reamer I could borrow , decisions need to be made.

That is an awesome little gun! Rear trainer sight is d&t? Thought it slipped over the barrel.

 

Wasn’t that a Limited Edition model made for Sportsman’s Warehouse? It’s so cool it should be in the standard lineup!

There is an old saying you can't have your cake and eat it too. What you need is a gunsmith that works for nothing and give you all the parts you require for free. Harden up!

 

 

Getting exactly what you want sometimes is expensive unfortunately. I wanted a .22wmr in stainless with sights, qd scope mount, adjustable butt pad, and a threaded barrel.

 

Where did I say cost was an issue. I am just looking for a gunsmith. Seems like all the responses were about how to do it cheaper.

 

Most of the expense will be the rough and finish reemer. Prob 160-200. Another 100 to have the work done. I found my smith by asking the local gun shop who they use. I think its worth it to have exactly what you want

 

You might try this guy. He did the work on my CZ 455. I was extremely happy with his work.
