Recent Acquisition: A RUGER 10/22 M1261 installed in a DesertTech TREK-22 Bullpup Stock.

The Barrel is 16.12 inches with a 2" Linear Comp. added. The entire length is slightly over 26 inches.

The weight is about 5 pounds. Although the trigger isn't bad, I am going to install a Volquartsen Hammer Kit and Bolt Release which I found for a combo deal on eBay. ($27 including shipping)

Shooting it was a blast! I was averaging 10 shot groups, under an inch at 40 feet.

UPDATE 02/16/23 I installed the Volquartsen Hammer Kit with Bolt Release. The trigger is so much better now!

A VQ Hammer is the 2nd mod I do to a ruger 10/22. First is buy a 1/4 inch plastic Bolt at Home Depot and make a buffer to replace the 1/4 metal pin in the receiver

Here's what the look like split open if anyone is curious. I was. Couldn't find a picture anywhere so I had to buy one for research purposes. 😂

The trigger is pretty spongy. I'm gonna drop in my fancy trigger group and see if it improves, then go from there. I think the trigger bar is obviously the limiting issue on trigger feel.

That would be awesome with a superlight 18" carbon fiber barrel.

I've been struggling to get mine with a VQ hammer/trigger kit to reset reliably (had to keep the Ruger trigger because the VQ trigger shape just won't fit)- if I keep pulling the trigger back all the way even after the bang, it seems to work but if I only pull as far as it takes to get ignition then relax on the trigger, I get no reset and I have to pull the trigger back again 'til the reset click, then it'll work ... anyone else struggle with that? I want to love this thing but so far I'm feeling a bit let down by my $300 toy

Ah! I had done that as well, and I thinned out the trigger just a bit, but maybe I did too much. I had also wondered if it could be that there's a slight geometry difference between the stock ruger trigger and the VQ sear. Being foolish with my budget, I decided to order a BX trigger assembly just to see if the mismatched parts could be a part of the problem- I'll report back once it arrives and I can install it. I also noticed that there's a very slight bit of interference between the transfer bar and the internal reinforcing ribs near the magazine well so I did a very small bit of sanding on the transfer bar to allow full unrestricted trigger pull. It's nice to be on vacation so I can fiddle with this stuff during the daylight hours! :)
