recently shot the Taurus TX22LR GEN 2.
What a pleasure to shoot
The owner of this Taurus is aware of my medical condition and new recoil sensitivity
He suggested for me to investigate the Taurus TX22 gen 2
LCR 22LR or 22wmr
for edc

Your thoughts-?
Thank you

We own a couple TX22 gen 1’s. We like them, the adjustable sights and the barrel have been the weaknesses. Both seem to have been addressed in the latest version. Reliability has been very good with ours. Accuracy has been acceptable for a home defense gun but not as good as a trail gun.

Looking forward to some honest man on the street reviews on the gen 2 before I decide to purchase one. I did ask my LGS for a price last week on a gen 2 TORO.

I have an early TX22, and after replacing the barrel, it has been good.

I have other pistols I prefer for plinking, but the TX is one of the more reliable.

As far as EDC goes, I don't personally think any .22 is adequate.

If the TX22 handles very similarly to a Taurus 9mm, so training with the TX would be very similar to the other, I would look into that. In a defense situation, firing a few shots from a 9mm, even if painful (I doubt you would notice during the encounter), would be much better at stopping a deadly threat than any .22. Because it's rimfire, most .22LR ammo isn't as reliable as typical CF defense ammo.

Not very familiar with 22 WMR though.

There are reduced power 9mm defense loads as well, which may make a 9mm bearable to train with for you.

I've had the Competition SCR version (gen 1) for a couple years. I probably had a few hundred rounds through it up until this last summer when I started shooting Steel Challenge. I have somewhere around 2,000 rounds through it just this summer. It's been very reliable, and plenty accurate. Through the summer I added Tandemkross Eagle-eye sights, and trigger, made a lighter trigger spring, and added a pic rail mounted thumb rest that I 3d printed.

My daughter and I each purchased a Gen 2 TORO 22LR recently. No issues other than with the 22 round mag (both guns) with FTF, even with less than a full mag. Typically happens with the second round in both mags, repeats somewhat randomly, and frequently. We have tried to find instructions online to clean these two mags but no luck so far - they don’t seem to be made to disassemble and clean. Taurus does have a 3x 16 round mag free offer that I was able to get quickly, btw. I will reach out to Taurus to get magazine disassembly instructions and/or see if there are any warranty claims I should file - will report back what happens.

I have both the Competition 5" and Compact 3.6" TX-22 pistols, both with red dots, and they've been better than all my Ruger Mark5 and S&W Victory pistols.

My first was the Competition 5" and it never misses a 6" plate @ 53 yards, single handed - and I suck with handguns. That immediately prompted the purchase of the Compact, which is also excellent, just not as pistol long range accurate for me as the Competition, but good enuf to dump a mag full of Federal Punch bullets into a torso sized target at 24 yards.

FACT.

Glad to see some else realizes the Ruger Series isn't some 'holy magical pistol' that instantly turns shooters into 10-ring experts. You don't need to spend the extra money. They're all just a bullet and a barrel, along with the skills of the shooter.

I like mine. I got it when my PT-22 slide broke and since i was discontinued, they gave me credit for another pistol and I chose the TX-22. I paid for the shipping and they sent it to a local FFL dealer where I picked it up. It works well and I like the magazine capacity. I like its reliability. It feels lightweight which is strange to me. I also got a pair of Pro Mag 20 rounders. They work well and give me more capacity.
