You’re halfway through a magazine and rim lock strikes….

So I have been careful loading the Vudoo mags to keep rim lock from showing itself. However if/when your halfway through a magazine and rim lock does happen to show itself….what do you do to quickly recover and get those remaining shots going again. I haven’t been able to find a quick surefire recovery move, and just seem to randomly try things that don’t seem to work, then magically it is unlocked. Hoping there is a better way😎

Besides this question of recovering when rimlock occurs, any other tips using the 10 round plastic mags is appreciated.

To avoid rim lock lean the magazine back at a 45 degree angle when loading. Use the grips on the side of the magazine to depress the spring and when fully loaded make sure to compress the spring all the way and let the rounds settle. I’ve never had another rim lock since I started doing that.

I also use @Max method and never have a rim lock. However, my solution, if an mag problem occurs is to immediately drop the mag and load the spare which I keep in a pouch on my belt. Same for centerfire. In the last centerfire match I shot, a round litterally locked up (Not realizing I had forced 11 in a 10 and it was a mess.) drop the mag, load the spare and keep going. (How I got eleven in it, I’ll never know).

I have had to use the loading tool for 100% reliability. My last trip out, I was mostly loading 5 for groups @ 100. I loaded 10 rounds a few times, I was pushing the top round down completely from the middle before sliding the new one in, it seemed to work better, only had a hang up one time in about 150 rounds.

So if I do indeed want to continue finish using the rest of the rounds in the current magazine I have loaded that is rim locked, what is the trick to unlock them? Like I said, it seems I try different things and it's a random event to get it to not be locked after multiple attempts. I was hoping someone had a surefire "just do this" and the rimlock is magically corrected every time quickly. I agree use a backup magazine, but when I'm just sitting at a bench on my own clock so to speak, how do I correct the one I am using quickly and efficiently.

I am learning, I had one hang up in 150 without using the loader tool. I was just ammo testing at the bench. But if I’m doing a timed event like NRL 22 I will definitely use the loading tool. I have done 2 NRL22 matches recently with the Vudoo with no malfunctions.

I only use one magazine. My plastic one, unless I need to do a 12 round stage then I load my 5 round aluminum one. I think some people just have several extras and load them a home. Probably easier than trying to get it right while in the middle of a match. I need to get another plastic one or two.

I did not know I was in the Vudoo section. It just came up as a new post with a magazine problem, so I read it.. Do not pay attention to particular sections unless I am posting my own thread.. Excuse me for not knowing what a Vudoo is..I would assume that if I asked twenty Firearms people I know..Maybe one would know at best, I still do not know, no pic to see..LOL
