OK, Peanut Gallery.....if you were going to build the lightest 10/22....no SBRs, or other weird stuff.....what parts/pieces would you assemble???

Would you start with one of Ruger's LITE models and go from there???

I am talking about just building a gun from existing, available parts, not doing a $10K gun with one-off parts made from titanium, magnesium, etc. giant holes drilled in the stock, etc.

What is your "build list"? Can you get it below 5 pounds??

Light is a relative term. You want light? Skeletonize a standard Ruger plastic stock, use a steel lined, plastic barrel from Ramline (no longer available) or a carbon fiber bbl from somewhere.

The below 10/22 in a skeletonized Ramline folder with Ramline plastic bbl weighs 2.7 lbs. Want even lighter? Remove the pistol grip.

With the standard Ruger plastic stock it weighs 3.3 lbs. Cut that stock down to just in front of the V block and skeletonize the buttstock and you could probably cut 6-8 ozs.

Im not afraid to say my home brew 'Super-Lite' goes 4.25 # c/w oem 10rd mag:
Late 90's action, JWH bolt & charging handle, oem trigger group with JWH Hammer
Williams(?) alum scope rail
Old Weaver 7/8" tube D-4 scope, c/w rings 6.5oz. so with rail about 8oz. total 4x optics
Only the buttstock of the Ruger take-down set, 24oz. (so I didnt have to futz with channeling a stock to freefloat the diy bull barrel used below).
Modded factory carbine barrel: bobbed to 16.25" o.a.l., lathe turned to 1/2" from the barrel breech swell on out and a .920ish O.D. alum sleeve fit over to about 9.5"/ a black plastic floating barrel shroud to the muzzle on rubber bushings. It looks like a short bull barrel with a 'can' up front but is over legal length, just has the look of a sbr and goes 20oz. (oem c/w sights is 28oz.) Note that the expensive, fancy Volq CF barrel is 15oz, only 5oz. less.
Light, trim, cheap build and effective, shoots as well at 50yds as any decent oem 10/22 carbine barrel Ive tried.

Check out the Blackhawk Axiom. It's an extremely lightweight stock with a collapsible butt that will fit even the smallest shooters. It's the smallest, lightest stock out there.
The length of pull is adjustable from 9.75" to 13.5"... The Ruger 'youth' compact has a 12" or 12.5" LOP. The entire stock only weighs 1 lb 2 oz!

These stocks weigh nothing. I used one for one of my kids. You can get them for $65 and free shipping off Ebay. If you need a cheek riser, these are available.

Combine one of these stocks with a lightweight barrel, and the gun will be so light, it won't even feel 'real'. lol

This same combo (minus the cheek riser) was built for someone's tiny little daughter here to shoot steels.
