I use the yellow anchors (#4-6) for 22LR.

 

In this case, 'yellow' is a size; and the correct one.

Here is a perfect example of some of the very valuable information that you pick up on this forum. I ordered these dry wall anchors from Amazon and they are perfect! Some of the ones I have bought before had a lot of flashing and the rim was too thin to offer much firing pin protection, but these are perfect, no flashing and a nice thick rim to offer good protection. I'm a prime member so no shipping was charged, 100 of them for a little over $5.00. Thank you so much for the link, I'm going to order another box of them!

The color depends on the manufacturer. The correct sized ones I picked up at Ace Hardware were dark blue. They are made of a much tougher material than the yellow ones most people are using. Hundreds of hits on a single anchor with no sign of losing it's effectiveness.

I even carry a couple in my pocket so if I run across a rimfire at a LGS I like, I can test out the trigger . . . with the permission of the LGS staff of course. I use the ACE yellow #4-6 as well.

 

I use the yellow plastic anchors at home for trigger testing. I carry the red Tipton snap caps for testing triggers elsewhere. Also carry the aluminum proving rounds for testing feeding and extraction. As you mentioned, always with the owner's permission.

You are most welcome! I have learned a ton here and it feels good be able to lob the favor back. I'll tell you, I have raised a few eyebrows here with very experienced shooters and the drywall anchors for dry firing. Old dogs. New tricks.
