I think your best bet is watching Gunbroker or ebay, or somewhere for an older used stock with a metal but plate. Or maybe a local gun show. I have one. It polished up nice! And I don't even know how to polish. It could be made to look like chrome. Good luck! :bthumb:

 

They should be common with Mini-14/30 and few other Ruger rifles. You may be able to find one of those more easily.

One might find a used 10/22 with one. Purchase that and swap buttplates.
t is kind of an spendy way to acquire one, but your best value may be that way.

Good grief...after seeing this, I almost wanna take my 73 and do the same to it all over and build a sweet little superstock

 

About the only thing left to add to what has already been said is that the factory ones were aluminum, and the others were steel. While the steel ones can be polished up very nice, the aluminum ones will polish easier, and be easier to keep polished.

Now I want one lol, I polished the reciever and trigger group on my daughters pink gun. It has a sporter style stock I think, no band and a different style butt plate now I want to find a metal one to polish is there one?

The metal butt plate was only on the carbine models. The kind that is curved at the top. The butt plates on all other 10/22s, including the CRR (compact or youth) model is plastic and not interchangable with the carbine butt plate.

If you REALLY want a metal butt plate on your daughter's compact 10/22, I think you'd be in for a custom project. Find a thick plate of aluminum and go for it!
