What's with all these sexy ads?

Please don't get me wrong I'm no puritanical snob but what's up with all these goofy sexy ads on this website. "So and so flaunts their huge size".
"Girls wearing see through clothing". Really I don't get it. For the most part I think we're a bunch of old guys shooting rimfire rifles and collecting guns. Just my opinion but I'm getting tired of them.

I get what you're DD581. I got those all the time when I first started with FaceBook, about a year ago. I had to keep telling them, "Not interested", for many months. I do not visit porn sites (really!).

True story- I got a blackmail SPAM message wanting some amount of bitcoin, claiming they had observed me "enjoying myself" while watching porn. I don't watch porn. I worked in defense for 31 years, and porn can bring all kinds of trouble to you employer's website (either military, or defense contractor). Knowing that people can hack your computer, I have tape over the camera lens (laptop) or the shutter closed (all-in-one), so it's 100% guaranteed that they didn't see any alleged activity. They told me not to report it to the police, but I did, anyway. Not much the police can do, especially if it's some chancre-ridden ******* son of Putin, though.

Steeveedee, I do not visit porn sites either and I am not just saying that...

On my Apple computer I run a program called "Ad-Blocker." There's prolly something like it for PC, I dunno.
The spammer/scammers have figured out a work around on some sites (like this one) but not on all sites, so I'm
glad I have that running. I've simply learned the hard way not to click on anything, unless it's what I've searched for.
I made myself a promise never to buy anything advertised on twit face. Never. Ask me how I learned that caution...

I wouldn't buy anything advertised on any web site like this one. Never. I might follow up on a tip from a member
but I'd log out first and quit my browser, and then reboot it and go search on my own.
These are just instinctive precautions, I have no IT knowledge or skills.

I figured we see so many pretty-woman type ads on this site because some AI has guessed we are mostly hetero.
That's just my guess, not any real knowledge. I imagine we've all gotten some of those extortion demands, here in
Michigan we often see them referring to some forgotten toll-booth fine we never paid... *laughs
They don't know that in Michigan we don't have any toll booths, except for on a few bridges. And you can't fail to pay
because if you don't pay you can't get off the bridge. *shrugs

Well and so... report and then block all spammers and don't click on anything. That's my rule.

Excellent point. Can confirm that ad blockers for PCs are effective - I have never seen any of the ads/pop-ups/randomness that others here mention. However, some of the ad descriptions are making me reconsider...

I have had problems when I 1st started coming on here with them locking up my iPad in fact I put post on here about that and one of the guys responded to me with trying a different browser other then Safari & Chrome and sent me a link for “Brave” Not only did it fix the locking up issues but it has an internal ad’s blocker and at any point in time I can click on the “status” and it will tell me how many ad’s its blocking/blocked, not to mention how much faster my iPad is!

After using it I decided to make it my default browser. I no longer see those ads on this sight and only a couple here and there on other sites.

Just sharing is all.

I always get them when I read without logging in. Being a paying member, their gone once I log in.

That crap they tell us about our browsing history being the cause is BS. The mothership is the deep rooted cause.

I hit the forum at least once a day. Where is this stuff ? I don’t recall seeing any of described adds. Maybe I’m getting short stroked. My online use is totally guns and fishing related. Maybe an odd power tool once in awhile.

I suspect Facebook (FB) is a likely a source for many ads as FB tracks you across the internet to push ads. The brave browser (and others) should help, but the only true solution is probably to put FB in a “container.” If you don’t use FB, it’s other companies. :)

“Yes, Facebook does track users across the internet, primarily to target them with personalized advertisements. This tracking occurs both on and off the Facebook platform, leveraging various methods like cookies, pixels, and data from third-party websites and apps.”

If we are going to vote on it... I don't see any reason to discontinue the ads. Some of those girls as mentioned are college age and very well may be students. Out of town students have a harder time getting the good part time jobs compared to the local folks. Most need to work for some money as college has a tendency to take all one has. A College also puts a lot of other college age kids all competing for the same job out there. They all can't work at Hooters, where they get the big tips!

My only complaint is that it seems like they may give a certain person more ad time than some of the other girls. Sometimes I see the same girl on an ad for a couple days in a row. I think they should give all of them an equal chance at the ad money and show different ones every day.

You should tie this into bait hunting. I know you can.
