OK folks here goes. In your experience, which model Marlin 22 is the most accurate (old and new models included)?

Post your pics and targets if you have them.

Let the fun begin:bthumb:

My 980V is really accurate. It has shot a few .3" groups at 25yds with match ammo. Once I get my new scope in I'm planning on doing a complete range report with pics and video.

I also believe the 880sq is quite accurate as well. Never owned one, but that seems to be the popular opinion.

Now lemme qualify this a little, the sq was allways more of a field shooter as built, mostly schnabel stocks, synthetic, were put on them. So not condusive the benching. however, the 2000 and the 7000 were oftem made with either bencher type stocks, or sillouette, or dudes built some pretty impressive stocks for them. There is a guy the comes to the big houston gunshows that are held in Reliant, and George r brown, a couple of times a year. he has about 5 marlins, that are completey tricked out, and about the finest looking bench rifles i have ever seen. He also has examples of the groups these rifles have shot, and we are talking tiny little groups.

by the way, that 880 with the laminate stock, is absolutely smashingly fabulous!!!

believe it or not,
the 925 is pretty hot for the price
I picked up a 925 a few years ago after a piggy bank raid and installed it in a two tone brown laminate stock. The rifle has shown me that it wants to shoot but it is all I can do to manage the trigger. Once I get around to a trigger job/trigger replacement I am confident that it will prove to be the most accurate of the Marlin 22lrs that I have owned.

880SQ with laminated stock

The laminated stock is off 17VS ,came from Marlin , the stock number is 505710,
had to paint the trigger guard black and get a longer barrel screw , the barrel and action dropped rite in , I got the idea from No Quarter on this site , should have done it long ago the previous picture of the Black Death Target is at 25 yards, I have shot the BDT at 50 yards 4 years ago when I was shooten all the time its tough

Have to agree with the 880sq being the most accurate marlin i have seen. My friend's stock 880sq with a worked up trigger can hold it's own with the best of the bench guns at normal rimfire ranges, 25 to 50 meters. Only at the extreme rimfire ranges of a .22lr does it stresses out, i'm talking 80 to 120 meters and beyond. It's most likely the trigger that is the main stumbling block because no matter how you tweak it, you could only go sub 1.5 to 2 lbs without making it unsafe as compared to bench target triggers which can go down to 6 ounces. But considering this is a cheap entry level gun, it's a blast. :)
I have a 880SS that i rebarreled with a match chambered .920 bull barrel and also a reworked trigger which is competitively accurate. Havn't won any bench matches as also with my friends 880sq, but when it comes to practical shooting or field target setup matches, these two marlin setups occasionally wins in the hands of a good shooter against top dollar guns. :bthumb:

All the Marlins shoot well. The only thing to complain about is the trigger. But the 2000L would get my vote. Heavy barrel, two stage trigger, adjustable stock. Great shooting, great looking rifle. Too bad they are no longer in production. They are greatly under rated.

I was not willing to give mine up until I could finally beat it with an Annie that cost three times as much.

Mine is for sale if anyone is interested.

I have a couple 3 year old 25N upon which I did some trigger tweaking. It's still a bit heavy but it breaks CLEAN!!!

I haven't really set up a bench and measured off yards. When we still lived in Houston I shot at an indoor range and at the back wall I had some nickle groups with the odd dime size thrown in. I was trying different ammo, and don't know where my notes are.

I live on 3.5 acres and plink around here a lot.

This is the most accuarate Marlin or rather Glenfield I own. It has been slightly modified. I have always liked Marlins. I don't recall Marlin ever making a bad shooting bolt gun. I would like to find an 880sq at a local pawnshop. If the I could find one for a reasonable price, it would go home with me.
