Vudoo in an Eliseo Chassis???

Scoured the interwebs but couldn't find what I was looking for...

Has anybody built a rifle using a Vudoo action (preferably V22s) in an Eliseo (Competition Machine) chassis? I understand that everything should fit right together, but I'm looking for speed-bumps that I may not see otherwise.

What did you like or what would you do different next time? As easy to assemble as the center-fire equivalents? What game are you playing that you built it for?

I'm thinking of building a smallbore rifle used primarily for prone mini palma and standing

Yeah, I didn't see this thread until today myself. I'd built a couple of Eliseo tube guns years ago - a R5 with two bolts & barrels in 6BR & 223, and a RTS in 6.5x47 for XTC HP matches. Used Pearce TG actions in both rifles, and enjoyed shooting both rifles quite a bit before I got out of XTC shooting. Guess I never considered putting one of my V22S actions into a chassis, mainly because I've always preferred Doan Trevor's walnut prone stocks. Like these two - English walnut on the V22S, and claro walnut H&H on a CMP 52D.

Question.

I spoke to Gary about getting one of his stocks. Gary said it might not work for a single shot 360 action due to the bolt throw.

The problem is all V22S are 360. I just confirmed with Vudoo.

Gary said it would work on a none 360 Vudoo. Although he said he could probably get it to work he’d have to see.

What action do you have?

Thanks for the info. I’m on the fence if I should change it out. I use Gary’s UMR and love it.

I have the Kestros with the 3-way butt system. The problem is the LOP. With the butt all the way closed it’s still a little far to load a single round for our type of prone competition. I’m hoping the pencil single round loader will help. I like to keep the rifle in my shoulder and it’s painful as the LOP is a little long.

The Kestros stock is unbelievable. I think I may be more accurate with the McMillan as I love having my trigger thumb on the back of the stock. You have a lot less torque.

For prone there is something to be said with the wood and fiberglass stocks.

Bolt stop design & location are also different on the 3-lug Vudoo actions. Now that VGW has stopped making Three-60 repeater actions in RB/LP configuration, the biggest difference between the Three-60 & V22S is that the single shot actions have 18* angled extractor slots while the Three-60's slots are flat/level.

I have a R5 Eliseo chassis & Pierce Engineering action with two bolts - one to fit 223, the other a std 308 - as I did a 223 med Palma bbl & a 6BR in sendero contour. I shot the 6BR in XTC HP matches with Gary's 5rd mags, and changed over to the 223 bbl & bolt for mid & long range prone matches. I'm not currently using it for either purpose, but do have a RB/RP V22S action that's not in a stock. I'd try it in the R5 chassis, but don't believe there's an easy way to make the Vudoo bolt stop work in the R5.

Yes, I ordered both bolts at the same time as the action, explaining my reasons to Pierce when I placed the order. This was my 1st Pierce TG action; I liked it enough to order another one with just a 308 boltface for an Eliseo RTM which I built as a 6.5x47 Lapua for XTC shooting - and it worked better than that 1st action had, due partly to improvements they made to the actions. The 1st one was s/n 009, bought April 2009; 2nd one was 038, Jan. 2010. I had to have both 223 & 308 boltfaces bushed & strikers turned down to .062" because of cratering; by the time they'd built the bolt for the 2nd action, they'd learned of that problem and that action's bolt was G-T-G when I got it.

Not sure if or when I'll try to use the R5 chassis with the V22S - have been looking around online at new & used wood BR stocks, and trying to decide whether to put a good stock on that bbl'd action, or just list it for sale as I'd originally planned after finishing a new RB/LP V22S and putting it into the McMillan Kestros.

Thanks for the info.

I have the McMillan Kestros stock and love it but the LOP is too long. I’ll try taking the (3) way off and replacing with maybe a (2) way, or remove the butt all together.

I use the Vudoo for winter indoor 22 prone at 50 & 75 foot matches.

Keeping my skills up for MR & LR. I’m new to the 22 as I always practiced all winter long outside but I don’t like the cold anymore hence the Vudoo.

Dittos on using a high quality 22RF for winter practice. I did pretty much the same thing back in 2004 when I bought a used Anschutz 1611 from Mac Tilton. The 1611's prone stock was very much like the Robertson H&H prone stocks of my Palma rifle, so the little Anschutz was a real asset for developing & keeping my prone position good over the winter months.
