Any pros and cons to these two actions?
Preference?

Have not owned a 60 degree bolt gun.

I've owned both so will throw in my 2 cents.
Both are excellent action with the same accuracy potential ( give the same barrel selection) Given these rifles are marketed as "trainers" for centerfire shooters, the 90 deg was the earlier offering and the 60 deg throw followed as more centerfire rifles offered that option. . Which you'll like has allot to do with what your used too.
The 360 has an advantage in that you get a shorter bolt stroke and better scope ocular clearance. Some will argue that the bolt is stronger in the V22 90 deg design but I think that's in the weeds for the most part on new production. (Note: There were some issues with early 360's. Vudoo have corrected them all through various updates and design changes over time though. They also retrofit those changes into older guns as they come through their facility. Good to know should you buy used.) As for which to buy, it's personal choice. I personally was happy with both but admittedly only have the 360 these days.

When you speak of issues with the 360 are you referring to the slot milled through center of one of the bolt lugs? I had one built special and it has this major design flaw, a real slap in the face to anyone who knows anything about guns. This is supposed to be a precision rifle and over 80% of one of the locking lugs is machined away just to provide slot for bolt stop. Is this something that Vudoo can and will, correct?

Looking at a buying used rifle and just found out it’s a 360, have Bergara and Remingtons.

If buying new, I would probably opt for 90 degree bolt just out of habit.

Just wondering if the 360 was a bad choice.🤷‍♂️

Never shot a Vudoo.

I’m needing a LH bolt rifle that would work for ARA unlimited, F-Class F-TR or Open, N-50 and maybe PRS/NRL.

My factory barreled Bergara seems a bit outclassed in the custom rifle matches. Maybe it’s an operator/ ammo issue.

I will still keep the Bergara’s, they are just to much fun not to. And they have treated me well in the factory oriented matches.

I may not shoot any better with a custom rifle but haven’t done very well against Vudoo’s, Stillers and other premium built rifles. Again it could be mostly skill level of the competitors.

Maybe I’m trying to do to much variety with my .22 rifles. It’s a lot of ground to cover and competition rifles can be very task specific.

B14R's ARE fun to shoot. My first precision rifle was a B14R Carbon. Foolishly sold it when I got my first Vudoo. It's been a couple of years now and I still have my Vudoo but I missed a B14R enough that I just finished putting another one together. Lets face it. When you win with a Vudoo, it's expected. When you win with a Bergara or CZ, you get that underdog rush that just sweetens the moment :)

FWIW, I have no problem going back and forth between a 60 and 90 deg action. You'll adapt quickly.

I've seen several V22s used for RFBR builds by some pretty high (national) level ARA shooters. I don't think I've seen any 360s used. It could be they're out there and I've just haven't seen them but I kind of doubt it

Not always the case but, in general, 3 lug 60 deg actions are a little harder to open vs a 2 lug 90 deg action

Curious why you would use a 2500X or Trident for your build?

Curious why you would use a 2500X or Trident for your build?
I’m reading this as why not use a Stiller or PQP, 2 or 3 lug rifle. Am I correct?

I have given it lots of consideration. My friend has a nice trident for sale if he hasn’t sold it. Probably just a few hundred dollars more than the Vudoo 360. These are both used guns, not something I am having built.

I just prefer LH bolt, that’s not an option with the 2500X or Tridents. Ideally I should probably go with a LBRP Vudoo V-22 Single shot for a target gun.

My friend has one, I looked at it today. Another friend owns 2 RBLP Vudoos and does pretty well with them.

I didn’t know the rifle I am going to look at was a 360 until yesterday, it’s a repeater.

Just asking if that would be a deal breaker for those familiar with them.

Like I mentioned earlier I am probably trying to get to much versatility out of my rifles to be super successful across the board. I participate in a variety of matches and would like to limit myself to a minimum of rifles and equipment. For economic and managment purposes mainly. I would rather have 2-3 rifles that cover my needs, that I shoot all the time and am very familiar with than several that are misson specific and only get occasional use.

It could be false economy to buy a used custom rifle over having a new build done. I will shoot it and see if it’s what I want and go from there.

The only other target rifle I have tried was my friends original 27” heavy barreled 40X built in the early 60’s. I shoot it better than my own rifle. He has offered to let me shoot it in some matches after he gets his Anschutz 1813 properly scoped he will just use the 40 X as his backup.

I haven’t decided to go to a dedicated BR rifle with the one piece rest just yet. I enjoy the bipod style and like the option of a repeater.

If I buy something I will update everyone as to how it worked out for me.

I just remember seeing a few negative remarks about the 360’s in the past on this site, this was back in their early production but know they have updated them throughout the production time. No idea of the age of the rifle, just did’nt want a used rifle with a potential for problems.

The only ones I have seen are the 90degree bolt repeaters and the single shot ones.

My main goal is accuracy, but realize that involves many more variables beyond the rifle.

I got to meet up with the guy with the LH 360 this weekend, another guy who really enjoys his firearms. Go figure a Vudoo guy that’s into guns. 😂

Anyway, I have been looking for a LH rifle that would fit into the upper level matches and this looks like it will fit the bill. It’s quite a rifle, literally towering over my Bergara’s with it’s 26” Shilen Ratchet barrel and Mc Millian U-1 stock. I also bought his extra stock which is a MTD ACC Premier possibly the gen 1.

We visited so much and discussed the details of the rifle and types of shooting we participate in, I didn’t actually shoot it yet, an indoor range with a bunch of AR’s and deer rifles blowing you around isn’t really my idea of accuracy testing a rimfire anyway.

The guy was so meticulous about things that I felt pretty comfortable that the rifle would do what he said.

It’s actually lighter than I had previously thought, the barrel is slightly less heavy as I had a 1.25” 26” in mind when I first heard about it. It’s a strait taper contour with a muzzle diameter of about .950” just short of the EC V2s tuner.

I put my Midas Tac 6-24 x 50 on it for a trial run today. It’s in fairly light Vortex rings. The rifle weighed out at 15 1/2 pounds. Which is good. Heavy but not abusive to the elderly.😂. I am hopeful that I can get lots of use out of this rifle in a variety of different applications.

Thanks for all the input from everyone. Now its in the discovery mode, getting use to the rifle, figuring out the best optic for it, what ammo it likes, probably need to find an ARCA bipod soon.

I am hopeful that it will exceed my factory Bergara’s in accuracy and be more competitive in the custom rifle matches. The Bergara’s are great performers in their own right. Just felt at a disadvantage against more expensive equipment, time will tell.

Thanks to everyone, Funguns.

I recently purchased a Vudoo 360 with 20” kukri— it shot so well, it made me rebarrel my B14R (had a factory 18” steel barrel), it’s getting a 25” mullerworks 13 twist — I haven’t received the B14R back from the smith yet, but can’t wait.

Update.

I have had the LH Vudoo 360 since August, 2024. I have shot it extensively, and have done pretty good in several various Rimfire disciplines. Mainly bench or prone stuff but did shoot 2 NRL22 matches with it.

I would say that I have probably put close to 15,000 rounds through it, sometimes 600 rounds a week between practice and the Friday and Saturday matches.

I still use the Bergara’s for sporter class stuff and NRL22, but the Vudoo gets the most use. Partly because it is so much more quiet than the shorter Bergara’s. And partly because it shoots very well when I do my part.
