I pressed the trigger of my T1x on the 40th rd of the 60rd box of Suppressor AE today, heard a VERY loud bag from the suppressed rifle and was hit in the chin by a piece of plastic that bounced off the bench from the 10-rd mag that had been blown out of the mag well and destroyed.
I slowly ejected the spent case and checked that the bullet had cleared the barrel and can. Next checked the bolt face and barrel extension along with the mag release latch. All ok.
the expended case head of the round was flattened and a portion of the rim was missing.
I fired 3 more 3-rd groups with CCI Suppressor and got 3 more dime-size groups so called the rifle good; feeding and ejection was normal as were the expended cases.

Wow. I have some duds from old ammo, and a dented case or two from failure to feed issues, not on my Tikka bu t on some older .22’s I’ve owned but nothing even close to this.
So how in the world could you be even aware of this or prevent this from happening again. I don’t see any obvious defects on the case, like crimps or dents, just the blow out. I guess an email with pictures to Federal Customer Service would be a start? I would think they’d be pretty concerned about it.

I have contacted them and waiting for a reply…hopefully they will replace my factory magazine but another forum member had two of the same and the response was ambivalence…
No real way to prevent it as the round looked normal.

I guess I could prevent it from happening with that brand by not using it…
