Stubborn front sight removal

I've got a new 10/22 on which I would like to install the Williams WGRS/Firesight combo. The WGRS is a no-brainer but the front sight is giving me fits. I can't get the sight to budge in the dovetail! I'm using a brass punch and small hammer to hit it on the left side but that thing hasn't moved a bit.

Any other ideas to get that sucker out of there? I guess I could try a different barrel as I've got a couple stockers lying around...

Matt-man,

Try a drop of penetrating oil on the dovetail of the sight, and then let it sit while the oil "does its thing".......! ! ;)

Kroil, Liquid Wrench, WD-40, and CLP are just a few to try....! ! :)

The sight was most probably 'pressed in' at the factory...! ! Any burrs or 'off spec' dimensions were overcome by the mechanical advantage of the press...! ! :(

Good Luck....! ! ;)
