Would a CCI Stinger work on coyote out to about 40yds? TIA :snipersmi

First off if you want a coyote gun a .22 ain't it! I have killed quite a few with .22's and mach2's as I squirrel hunt about 4 months a year and that is generally what I am packing when I have seen them. Most of the coyotes I have shot have been young of the year and that is what most shoot because that is what is most numerous and vulnerable. An Eley high vel hp will generally pass through behind the shoulder. I have shot the majority of them in the head and am not an expert on body shots with a rimfire on most animals.

The velocitor is deflected less by the wind than the stinger and hits with 20% or thereabouts more energy than the stinger as well. I suspect that it may do better in most guns accuracy wise as well. Lot of things shot with a .22. But when one is talking about squirrels the old .22 high velocity HP's are tough to beat by any margin that could realistically increase one's harvest amounts, flashy numbers notwithstanding!

Dunno if this is relevant, except bullet placement? I took 7 hits within 10' (feet) from a Jennings. 5 torso hits, 1 in the thigh, one through my strong hand. I was critical for a few days but I'm still here 35 years later.:bthumb:
I call b.s.! No Jennings can fire 6 rounds in a row. You probaly confused it for Jimenez because those alway work right?

Glad you're still here man! Lots of bodies have been stacked by the .22lr.

1894, Threads take twists and turns. You have received some answers to your questions and threads often take a twist here and there , I think maybe you are concerned that a twist here and there may prevent someone else from answering your question. There is nothing to prevent someone that wants to answer your question from doing so and you very well may get some more answers. Threads often go off topic and jump back. Good thread .

Lerrab, I was just concerned that the thread might turn into a free for all. I just wanted info about using the Stinger for hunting, not have it turn into a self defense thread. I am aware that the 22LR has been used as a self defense/murder round all too often since the round was invented all those decades ago. Matter of fact InRangeTV did a youtube posting on the S&W #1 chambered in 22 short about the time the Civil War #1 started back in 1860 or thereabouts. Lots of soldiers bought them up to use for self defense back then. Anemic, but still usable.

I can tell you what just a normal 22 LR does to a dog shot point blank in the head..

A domestic dog anyway..This is kinda like a Pet Cemetery version..About 15 years back my Brother had a large black lab mix on the Farm..For some reason it was getting aggressive towards the young kids..He saw it as his only choice to go and put it down, I will not judge him on not deciding to try to re home a aggressive dog...

He took it out in the back of the Farm and shot him in the head..About three days later that dog came back..No he did not miss.I seen the wound near his ear myself...The dog did act alot differently after that...For the better..

He was not about to do it again though..They moved off the farm and that Dog lived with them and the kids in town till they were near full grown before the pup died....

100% true story..No BS here..

No problem, it was a double long shot through and through. He died fairly quick I imagine but he did run a bit. Idk if it would go all the way through a coyote but if u hit him in the lungs under 100yds it would be a death sentence.

I would recommend a bigger gun if you are going to try to make it a habit of shooting coyotes.
Nope, gonna be a one time thing just to see what happens. After that .223 55 grainers or 12ga #4 buck! :snipersmi

carbine, I like that word, dispatched. Have you ever watched Boston Legal, great show. Little guy on there dispatched a couple other people with a frying pan, it was hilarious! truth is anyone or anything can be killed by anything. What is generally suitable under the circumstances narrows it down some! You having Sauerkraut tonight?
