Hello Al . . .

How far are you from Lakeland? There are three ranges there. An indoor pistol range, a private club and a DNR range open to the public.

The DNR range is home to the Florida State Team that shoots in RFC's E-Mail Matches.

The Florida Team Captain is Paul Verhey. He is a snowbird and is in Lakeland now.

If you are close to Lakeland, you should contact Paul. His e-mail address is: GRUMP442@aol.com

Thank's for your help..

#1.. Apoligies for not putting my request in the proper FORUM.. hmm.... who would think "places to shoot" should have been in "places to shoot" ??? :D

and #2.... I think I'm about 1.5 hrs from Lakeland.. We will be about 15 miles south of Daytona..

However, I will probably get to visit a good portion of mid-to-south Fla.. during my stay,, so anything in the general area will work for me.. The last time I was at a gun shop there, the owner told me it's easier to buy a gun in Fla then it is to find a place to shoot it..I'm sure I'll find someplace..

Appreciate everyone's help..

HI.. all,

I found a range in HollY Hill ... which is only 15 minutes from where I am staying in Port Orange .. ( Changed original plans from New Smyrna ) ..The range is on Strickland Range Road.. just off Clyde Morris.. I can give better directions if anyone is interested..

I believe the county manages the range and they charge $2.50 per day..As soon as I am completely thawed-out I'll give it a
"shot"..

You can often work a deal your friendly local gun shop. It is to their advantage for you to come in the shop everytime you need your guns!

Check into joining a local gun clubs. Many of them have some way or another to store guns.

Friends. Some of the people at school will be shooters too. And you will meet people off campus. Over the years I have stored guns for 6 or 7 friends that for some reason need to do that for awhile. I have stored 7 or 8 guns with two different friends at different times. In my case I was just divorced after 23 yrs. Lived in bad area. Was gone up to 3 weeks at a time traveling for work. A friend that I shot with lived in the desert and has the biggest gun safe I've ever seen took all my guns in for me, except Kahr E9 "house gun".

And you know? If you have a gunsafe bigger than your refrigerator, you might be a redneck!! :D
