Most complaints seem to be about customer service although some address the shoes.

 

Sounds like a Circus.

They sell a mix of crap and name brand, prices are average from what I've seen..

 

Cheap shoes and bad employees.

 

I bought Mason boots for years; guess they are history now........!

 

My late wife and I shopped Shoe Carnival's store in Hattiesburg, MS several years ago and they offered both named and off the wall brands, the prices and selections were only meh. I think she only bought a purse iirc.

 

We have a Shoe Carnival store about 20 miles from here. Always had a decent experience there.

 

I remember always seeing them in the local malls in smaller towns, like Austin MN in the 90s. Nothing special. It's like Famous Footwear (which used to be crap, I just walked past the one in the local mall and they sell Birkenstocks now!)

 

In our neck of the woods, DSW has some very good prices on name brand shoes. Online, I have had a good experience with Zappos for all types of shoes and Joe's New Balance Outlet for sneakers/sport shoes.

All those bargain shoe stores have the same smell. I can’t really describe it, but they all have it.

 

Shoe Carnival used to be huge around here when I was younger. They are, or at least were, the Kohl's of shoes. The shoes were all "flawed" in some way. Most often it was something completely unnoticeable like a misaligned stich.
