So I now have a very nice 75 receiver sight and in looking it over it dawned on me that I do not know how to use the graduations on the sight. Don't get me wrong, I know how to adjust the sight..up, down 1/4 min clicks, move sight in the direction you want the bullet to move etc., but how are the markings used? What is their purpose? Surely Redfield wouldn't go to the trouble and expense of putting them on there if they served no purpose. This also applies to other micrometer sights.
The side slide indicates min on one side and yards on he other but has no markings for the yards. The knobs have marks but there does not seem the be an index line for them.
How were these used "back in the day".
Thanks,
Ralph
