Not sure why I acquired it, maybe to keep the Stevens Visible Loader company, but I now have a Savage model 1914 pump, in 22 caliber. Another rifle to use the small CCI Quiet inventory in

That's a Model 1914, if it's marked Model 1912 then someone at the factory grabbed the wrong barrel stamp. The only Savage Model 1912 was a box magazine fed semi-auto. The barrels on the Model's 1903, 1909, 1912 and 1914 all have the same tread so sometimes you will find them swapped. The 1903's were never marked with a model name, but all the others should be marked on the barrel in front of the receiver.

I see the rear sight has been replaced with one from a Remington.

The barrel is stamped 1912, the sight is what came on it, this is the first one I’ve seen, so I didn’t know

Guns are like jewelry for men. We don't need a solid reason to buy one. Hell I'd buy that gun just because of the octagonal barrel. And yes it would be shooting cci quiets, likely at rodents.

I would be interested in seeing a picture of the barrel stamp. I research these and look for variations. I have an example of a Model 1903 that has the Model 1914 barrel stamp, it's not marked 1914 but has additional patent information that only applied to the Model's 1914 and 25 and was never milled for the tube magazine mounts. The 1912's only had 20" round barrels. The rear sight was standard on the Remington Model 12's for at one time, the 1914's had a windage adjustable rear sight as standard.

I have a model 1914. Hex barrel, take down. It was given to me by a former wife's father. Regretfully it was not well taken care of but it has a good bore and works fine. It was apart without the takedown screw when I got it. He said it was broken but an action screw had backed out a bit and the two halves would not go together. Here it is sandwiched between a a 1906 Winchester and Model 12 Remington.
