Savage Model 19 NRA NSN

One of my first posts, here it goes, I will try to get some pictures posted a little later when I get home.

I have a Savage Model 19 NRA with the full military style stock, it came with an open rear sight only which looks to be Savage made, standard front sight and missing the middle barrel band. It is of the oval port receiver type, barrel is 25".

My question is there is no serial number on the action on this Model 19 NRA, nothing between the bolt and ejection port nor any serial number on the end of the receiver above the bolt. The gun looks original and not refinished and nothing appears ground off. I did remove the butt plate and found the plate and end of stock stamped with 21990 (I assume this is the serial # at least for the stock) Would this be the only serial number used?

Standard markings; Left side Model 19 NRA - Savage - 22 Cal Long Rifle. Top of barrel; Savage Arms Corporation, Utica, N.Y. Made in USA. There is an "F" stamped on the underside of the barrel just forward of the action. No other markings found.

Opinions?
Thanks,
Steve

I know the sn on my early Mdl 19 on the very rear circular end of receiver is faint....I had to use a magnifier after getting the old hardened (dried oil) varnish off.

Looks like someone might have snagged the back magazine support on the trigger guard/bottom metal while reassembling. Might still be okay.
That is a very common cause of part breakage on these and the 23A sporters.
The Rear magazine support/retaining plate is supposed to be inside the slot the magazine goes into. It is very easy to mess up and bend it.

I make magazines for the sporters and am setting up to run a batch for the early pattern rifles, and one of the things we have on order is tooling line to make replacement rear magazine support/retaining plates and new front springs, because about 10% of customers contact with fitment problems only to find out their gun has missing or broken parts.
