Sorry, but just some bragging. I started shooting Bench Rest 50 yard in the Fall of 2024. I had bought the Savage ($380) just for the fun and with no intention to compete. Unfortunally I met some 'nice' shooters at the range who watched this 85 year old guy with a Savage and 'forced' me to try ARA and National 50 'just for fun'. Fast forward to May of this year.
The saying goes: Even a blind squirrel occassionally can find an acorn.

And what makes it amazing is that I did not score a single X.
And I did it with this:

Thanks to the ARA for providing my first 2500 target framed and mailed to me for free. Spouse is thrilled and that will go a long way toward justifying my latest purchase of a CZ 457 Varmint MTR.

Great shooting, I have the same Savage MKII and it shoots as good as yours I put it up against my CZ 457 MTR every day and it keeps right up with it.Guys always wood turn there heads and laugh at the range about my Savages 6.5cm until they out shot there $5000 AI and custom Remingtons.Id put my SAVAGE 6.5”s and MKII up against any other gun and feel confident it would keep up.Great shooting keep it up.

Lapua Center-X 29559/706524 which mine likes.
I tested some slower Center-X but the group got bigger so am staying with faster subsonic for the Savage.
Suspect (assuming lots are consistance) the harmonics of my rifle are such that faster speed is better. YMMV
OTOH, I have not tried a significantly lower speed to see the effects on the harmonics.
