Ruger 77/22 Firing Pin

Hello too all:

I use a Ruger 77/22 in 22LR. Everything is working well. However, in the future, if the firing pin should need replacing, I'm assuming the pin will need to be fit. I fortunately have a new unused FP that in no way looks like the one in my rifle. Is this job of filing &/ or stoning something I should attempt? I'm not a moron but there again 'm not a gunsmith either. Thanks for any help anyone could supply...

Regards too all, Vince

I have stoned the firing pins on my CZ 452s with no problem, and I have extra o.e.m. firing pins for them. I would like to re-shape my 77/22 pins, but replacement pins for 77/22 are non-existent or extremely rare, and I'm not going to mess with something I can't replace. Been there....done that.

i asked a small machine shop to make one, and that was out of the question; even though they could do it. Heat treating for one would be exhorbitant. Then add in the liability for making a firearms part and selling it.

I sure would like to have one.

PS: Where did you get the extra pin, and do you have a photo of it?

I never seen a replacement 77/22 firing pin... My guess is once in a great while, one might show up at
GunParts Corp but it would go fast... Problem is 77/22 firing pins are a cast part... No aftermarket company
would spend the money for molds to make a part they would never get there money back from....
