Ruger 10/22 LVT barrel

Hi, everyone,

After seeing it mentioned in our forum in different threads and checking out the photos online, I got to really like this particular 10/22 style/concept and want to build one.

I already have the stock - in fact I have 2 identical ones as far as their shape, and several receivers and all the other required components, except for the barrel.
Since I really like the "bull to .750" profile, and the 20" length, ideally I'd like to get an aftermarket barrel "matching" those dimensions along with - presumably - a better shot at good accuracy than the OEM barrel.

Biggest problem with getting a takeoff barrel is - imo - that you'll almost certainly get a "proven not great (or worse) barrel". In fact, I saw a stock and barrel combo on Ebay that with tax and shipping would run ~$300, but Buds has the LVTs in stock for another $50 extra, so that makes no sense.

I looked around and found plenty of bull barrels and sporter barrels of course, but not the LVT-profile - has anyone seen them anywhere?..

BTW. - I just checked on the company website and Ruger is apparently extremely proud of the LVT barrel - it's listed at $249!!
So another ~ $100 gets you the receiver, stock, and everything else.

TIA!! :) :)

Feddersen has a heavy contoured barrel with a width that tapers from .920 to .750. It is 17 inches long, not the ruger 20 inch length.

I don't have this barrel, but do have a bull fluted that has improved my results. You might check them out.

Otherwise, buy an LVT rifle and sell your extra stocks -maybe one to me.....

'preciate the quick responses gentlemen! :)

As one might - or perhaps should expect with most cool things these days the GM 19" HT is out of stock everywhere I looked, the 17" I didn't check, since the 19" would be the "minimum" length I'd consider for this build - until now I was actually unaware 19" barrels existed;)

Again, thanks for contributing... any other options?..

it's been an hour since the original post...so I'm shocked that nobody mentioned the KIDD Tapered barrels yet..

ETA: I built my version of the Ruger LVT years ago...it's on a walnut DSP stock, using a GM 19" HT barrel and a BX trigger assembly installed in an aluminum Tactical Innovations/Pike Arms trigger housing...and it handles beautifully

Nothing wrong with the 17 inch GM HT imho😀 View attachment 330210
I agree, and nice rifle, but you have to admit that a 17” barrel for a 10/22 just sounds… weird - you know, kinda like a “5-pak” of beer, nothing wrong with that either, but… :ROFLMAO:

I couldn’t find “tapered” KIDD barrel following that link, only cylindrical- someone please help the struggling Zman out!:ROFLMAO:🤦‍♂️

… after heavily meditating on the totality of the circumstances  I ordered the rifle from Buds - blue LVT for $342, free shipping, imo super cheap particularly compared to 10/22 gun show prices… which puts me 3 builds/rifle projects behind🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😂

I bought my 1st 10/22 a couple months ago. Either the new LVTs weren't available yet or I didn't really know to look but I wish I would have. I bought a plain synthetic stock version for $254, bought a walnut sporter stock, and am also wishing Green Mountain had the 19" heavy taper in stock.

If the barrels are good the $342 for the LVT seems like a no brainer.
