rimfire storage (22 lr)

At the present time, storage of my Rimfire ammo isn't a big problem. Instead of an ammo can, plastic or medal, I use my old snuff cans. Each hold bout 45 rounds and when I go to the range, I take what I think I'll shoot, then bring the empty can back home. The lids fit pretty tight and it's easy to carry.
I store all my cans in a 4 pistol case. All cans are cleaned out before filling.

Mine stay in their original boxes paper or plastic and set on shelves in my basement gun room that is air conditioned in summer/ forced air heat in winter. I have never had a problem with ammonia going bad, nor reloading components with some being stored for over ten years.
ive never considered a box or 2 in my pocket a problem when hunting a problem, or dragging a brick in the trunk of my car to the range either

I have military style ammo cans and plastic MTM "ammo crates" with .22 ammo in them.

Looks like this, they show shotgun ammo, but 22 bulk and bricks fit well.

When I go to the range, the range bag holds a bulk pack box; and a few 50 round boxes of target or subsonic ammo.

I use medication screw cap wide neck small plastic vials.
I used to get a medication in a large pill bottle, about 2" wide by 6" tall. I have a few of those bottles in my truck, with ammo out of bulk packs in them. Holds 150-200 rounds, or can also hold about 15 .223 cartridges.

I bought one of those Marble Arms Catch 22 storage/dispensers. Kind of neat for taking 50 rounds of bulk ammo and loading it into this dispenser so you can dispense in multiples of 5 at a time. For a tube fed rifle like a Marlin 60, you can pour the ammo directly into the tube 5 rounds at a time. It has a belt clip so you could carry it with you into the field.

I use a particular rifle in a couple different leagues and i've done a couple NRL shoots with it also. I don't take a lot of rounds on those nights, as I typically only need about 30 for the actual matches. In that particular rifle I am using Aguila. Aguila comes in 50 round boxes with a plastic holder for the rounds, or it comes in bulk. What I did was take the stickers off a plastic CCI 100 round sleeve and used grey velcro ties doubled up to slide over the plastic case longways, and wrote what ammo it is, and what rifle its for on it. I refill the sleeve as needed.

I am loading 5 rounds in each mag anyway, so using the sleeve, makes it easy to dispense 5 rounds, then load the mag & repeat

Mostly .50 and a few .30 caliber ammo cans with desiccant packs keep my ammo in perfect condition. 50 years ago, it started with one old .50 cal can that held ammo for all of my guns. It survived a flooded cellar once and all of the ammo inside was still dry. Only had a 12 gauge, .30-30, and .38 special until around 2014 when I discovered the 03 FFL(C&R) license.

Cans have been added along the way as needed resulting in a nice stockpile of everything I shoot. Ammo varies from old surplus to recently manufactured and I have not experienced any degradation even after decades of storage.

When a sealed case of factory ammo is opened, it goes into cans.

I keep a spreadsheet of my ammunition inventory that allows for easy tracking of lot numbers. They can be extremely versatile if you spend a little time setting them up the way you like.

i inherited a small ammo can about 8" x 4" x 8" that i use , holds a fair amount of ammo and carrys easy with is handle -= looks just like the regular military ammo cans but small , i think he kept tools in it when he was in the navy [submariner]
Nothing better than a passed down ! Don't laugh, but I use my empty dip cans. I can get 45 rounds in em and it's easier to carry when I go to the range, just take what I think I'm gonna use. I store all my cans in a 4 pistol case which hold bout a hundred cans. When the cans get empty, I just toss em in the trash..

most of my cans hold Snuff the stuff that sits between my lip and my gum when I go shooting at targets the ammo sits in original boxes, when small game hunting if it's a repeater the Ammo sits in the Magazine if its a single shot I carry the loose rounds in a pocket. no fumbleing to open a box.
I store all my Snuff in those handy cans :giggle:

They're called Tic Tac Travels... I didn't know them before, first saw some in a Center Shocks bucket assortment at a kid's birthday party my elder son was invited to recently.

I took some of the empty boxes lying around with me, to find out what they could be good for... and quickly realized they're perfect for 6 rds of .22 lr.

Could be fine for small game hunters using single shot rifles, to carry a small amount of ammo safely in their trouser or jacket pockets, as the bullet grease or wax tends to collect dust, sand and dirt there. Protected by the little box, the grease also won't get off the bullets inside the pocket.

They should also be great for shooters using 6-shot revolvers, as these tiny boxes aren't as bulky as a speedloader.
