Hi all,

I wanted to mention I found Yellow Jackets 🐝 at my local Walmart. Bought the last two clear jugs of 250. Here is the tag.

It's usually all or nothing with them it seems like.
I keep a wide variety of .22LR in my inventory, (not actually sure how many).
I find, the faster a LR bullet goes, the harder it is to find a firearm that shoots well with it. 30gr+/- bullets fall apart on the accuracy end much past 50-60yds. Yellow Jackets and Copper Heads are no exception, but oddly, a couple of my semi auto handguns run really well with both, (a pair of Walther P22's, and a TCP).

I usually keep some cci velociters and yellow jackets around just in case for bigger critters. In most rifles I get 2"-3" groups at 50 yds, but a couple have held them around a quarter size group at 50 yds consistently. For bigger critters they're fine and the latter would work for the really small stuff. Like mentioned already though, it's been hard to find very many at one time to test much for hunting. Last time I found them was probably four years ago in the 100rd plastic boxes at wal mart and i bought 500 rds. I still have 350 or so. I'm trying to remember which two rifles were the best! I need to start writing this stuff down! Haha I'm thinking two savages, a mark ll GY and a mark ll minimalist. The minimalist shoots the velocitors really good at 50yds too. The one I've never had any luck with is the cci stingers. I reserve those for handgun carry ammo for extreme close range stuff.

I tried all the hyper-velocity rounds (Stinger, Velocitor, etc.) through my Marlin 39A since the 1970's with disappointing groups until I tried the Yellow Jackets. My rifle loves them for some reason. Groups as tight, or tighter than HV, SV, or Quiet ammo. I settled on Yellow Jackets decades ago, and if there is something better out there today, I don't think I'll experiment with it. I'm satisfied with Yellow Jackets for large varmint control. For meat hunting, I use round-nose solids.

I looked for them also on the Remington website.could be a Wally World exclusive. I seen that years ago with their federal 550 bulk. It always looked different on the carton. The yellow jacket is a good round if your gun shoots em. My Ruger SR.22 shoots em very accurately. I still have a brick and some 100 rd paks or would of got some the other day when I looked at the Wally case and seen those 😲

I too use to shoot them in the mid 80's. I had one hunting mate from Arkansas and one from Louisiana and me from Texas. While in North Charleston SC, we harvested tons of squirrels for BBQ weekends. Yellow Jackets was all I used. I put a scope on that 10/22 and I thought I was cheating. Had to head shoot them or not much left to eat.
Those Yellow Jackets were extremely accurate back then.

I don’t have any of the old school ones left either. I’m not much for going to wally world but I think I did see some of those there. Might be worth just picking up a tub and try them. We’ll never see .22 ammo prices what they once were. So I’m sort of over that shock now. Anything I shot Remington did shoot well. But I primarily only ever shot that stuff through .22 revolvers and bolt actions. Hunting, farm critter control and punching some holes. Vintage (poor choice of words) Yellow Jackets, Vipers, Golden Bullets, Rem. Targets.
Those newer Ranch Hands along with the MiniMags, solids and HP’s feed great in my autos. No firing or feeding failures. I’m not looking for issues so that’s all I shoot through them. I want to try the CCI Std. Velocity through the autos. Next winter I want to try my hand at shooting in an indoor bullseye league. I believe I’ll have to shoot standard velocity in it.
You’ll never hear me say I’m a marksman or a crack shot by any means but it think I should be able to walk away from the league better than I started it. Has to be 100% positive. My target autos should be sufficient to shoot it I hope.
