Guess 3 lefties thought it precious enough.
As a card carrying lefty, I am always on the look out for a great rifle at a decent price. This is not that. I would offer up to $150 for that rifle but that's just me. I see this as another example of irrational exuberance.

"# of bids 40"

Yep, some people must have got caught up in a bidding war.
I have seen this before many times on GB. I can only assume the seller has a couple of friends bidding against each other to artificially drive up the price. I try to believe nobody is stupid enough to bid that high for such an ordinary plinker.

But then again:

"No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby."

While $300 seems high to me, I do not know your local market. A few years ago, I bought a Remington Model 37 for $700 in a local private sale. I also bought a Savage Model 19 NRA and a Remington 550-1 at a local shop for $100 each. None of those rifle needed any repairs. One of my sons and one of my grandsons now have the Savage and the 550-1. About a year ago, I sold the Model 37 for $700.

A little over a year ago, I bought a left handed Martini International MK II, with a set of original left handed PH sights for less than $900. I have seven different left handed rifles in my gun safe right now. None of them came at a premium price for being left handed. I even bought a left handed Anschutz MPR for less than that. I do confess, I paid $1400 for an Anschutz 54:18 MS but later I sold it at my cost.
