I have a Remington Model 4 rolling block in 32 rimfire. I recently aquired a copy of the 1969 Frank de Haas book "Single Shot Rifles and Actions", which has a chapter on the Model 4. My serial number is in the 350,000 block. De Haas reports that the largest serial number he has seen is 355657, which is only about 300 higher than mine, so I assume that my rifle was one of the last produced in 1933. Does anyone have any more recent data on the serial number range of the Model 4?

I have looked in the Glyde and Marcot Remington Rimfire Book. It has a lot of very detailed information on the Model 4 lines, but nothing that would pinpoint the date of production from a serial number that close to the end of manufacturing. They do record the gun dealer that probably sold your rifle:
"The end of the road for the No.4 sporting rifle is documented in a sales flyer by Galef’s Go Getter dated October 1932, in which the company states they “have bought the entire supply of Model 4 and Model 6 rifles from Remington.” They offered the Model 4 at $3.10, or $2.85 each in case lots of 10. The wholesale price from Remington was $5.10 at the time."

I have a model 4 with the serial number j288175. It has been passed down through 4 generations beginning with my great grandfather, who was born in 1900. Wondering when it was produced?

Numbers of 350,000 are reported .
This No.4 is around 1912 - 1915 sr.# 179,090 in .22lr.

Quick question for you The serial number on my number four is J262849 and it is found under the octagon barrel on the bottom. I’m having troubles finding any information about this rifle it’s been passed down from my grandma‘s dad and maybe even further. Where should I start? Looking to find info on this rifle?
