Hi guys , I came across this old 341-P, the unit was in poor shape and was in need of an overall, pitting on the barrel and many scratches on the wood ,
so I decided to do a refinish ,I think it came out great after many hours of TLC, just wandering if the front site came this way from factory,
been looking online and usually they came with a front globe?
The unit is a great shooter and cycles like a dream, the bore and riffling are in mint shape, very happy about this one.

Nicely done.

I see your 341-P is cut with a front dovetail but still has the holes for the original front globe. I purchased one with a similar dovetail cut for a ramp/globe front sight and a very poorly cut dovetail for a barrel sight.

I found a replacement barrel (made same month and year) and it is now at the gunsmith for a re-barrel.

The original front sight is a globe that screws directly to the barrel. It uses Remington inserts, which are VERY hard to come by.

There is a post in the Remington forum outlining a modification of the globe body to use Lyman inserts.

I bought a Rem 341-P at a yard sale. It was in excellent condition except stock was cracked right at action. You could see where a attempt had been made to glue it. I cleaned it up and reglued. I carried it as truck shooter for several years. It shot extremely well. Still in family my boy cried until I gave it to him. I’ve seen several for sale missing original sights and crazy prices. I am looking for one with a good stock to change out with boys. I’ve also seen several with same crack, ahead of bolt handle. Must have been a week point.

Great job on the redo!! I like the character of that stock. I also have a 341p that I refinished the stock on and it is also a lighter walnut. Mine has the original front sight with a post reticle and I have been looking for three years for a factory set of inserts. I picked up an extra factory front sight and adapted it to use the Lyman inserts. They are great shooters so enjoy it!
