Remember the Rem. Yellow Jacket Ammo?

What is the best replacement ammo to the Yellow Jacket ammo? I had a box of it laying around and I finally used it in my Ruger MK ll, Bull Barrel. I found out that the pistol really loved it. It was the best I ever used in it. Now after all these years, I would like to get more of them or equal too.
Did any of you guys use them ? And did you like them ?

Remington Yellow Jacket
Remington has changed hands a couple of times since your box was made, but the principle of the ammo is the same, hyper-velocity, plated, truncated hollow point. Viper and Ranch Hand may be other options.

I have never been a fan of the hyper-velocity stuff, too inconsistent for my taste. For bulk ammo, I prefer Norma Tac-22 and for hollow points, CCI Mini Mag HP.
Now that Remington is under the umbrella of CSG, I may take a look at their stuff again.

I had some old school Yellow Jackets ammo that was gifted to me. As above I have found the hyper velocity ammo is less accurate. I gave them to a friend who was having issues with his GSG cycling reliably.
Aguila has some ammo in the 1400-1700 fps range that may be worth trying out.
I've used some of the Aguila 1700 stuff in a MKII Target, but I put a heavier recoil spring in it first. It makes lots of noise, but is less accurate then when using CCI SV.

As of today, the Remington website has them 'out of stock" @$6.99/50 and up.
Happily I have 5 boxes of 50 in my stash. Will keep them as my STWGTS survival 22LR.

I used them years ago for squirrel hunting. I used them and to say they were devastating on squirrels puts it lightly. They are a good hyper velocity round and that bullet design just works for quick dispatching of small game. I have some older ones in my stash for when I need them. I might just get some of the new to compare to the originals.

They used to make another similar hot one called the “Viper”….don’t know if it still exists but, I have always had my best luck with CCI Stingers through all my rifles and a Buckmark 5.5” pistol, the pistol just turns gophers inside out with those Stingers…..I really haven’t seen the Yellow Jackets in years but, they were comparable to Stingers but slightly on the heels in velocity….both a hot varmint rimfire….

I bought a bottle of the new yellow jackets from Walmart, it looks like fairly decent ammo. None of my rifles like it, my 10/22 won't even chamber it, it jams up the whole works. It found a home in my LCRx who tolerates it. I have the old stuff and the new stuff (Yellow Jackets) and I guess all this is going to be stored away until I find a firearms that can deal with it.

Had some failure to cycle in a semi, accuracy less than Minimags, waay back when so they never stuck with me.
If I need hyper velocity ammo I'd dig out some of my Velocitors which were surprisingly accurate and mushroomed quite nicely in modeling clay from a proven rifle.
That said the hypers aren't recommended in some semi-autos according to the firearms' manuals. My Buck Mark jammed on the first and only round I tested. Oops.
