Rear sight for Remington 510x

Hello. I recently got a Remington 510 X after my uncle passed. I've been looking to replace the missing rear sight, but haven't had much luck finding one. I saw one on Ebay for $300, but that just seems like too much to me when I've seen complete guns go for around that price. I'm wondering if anyone here can point me to a place I can find rear sights. If not, does anyone know what kind of scope mount this has? It currently has a broken Tasco scope sitting on it. It's not a rail I'm familiar with, so I don't know what kind of scope or mount to look for.

I agree the $300 seems high. I've sold several of the sights in the past few years for $`100~$125, ln fact, one less than a year ago. I got them cheap because the head of the windage screw was broken off and replaced them with the new type, small head screws I had found a few of. I had one with the large, knurled head windage screw that I put on eBay a few years ago and it brought about $175, those are correct tor the Nylons. The small head is correct for the 510's. Make sure the windage screw is not broken. Most scope mounts required the sight to be removed, which is why they are often missing, if you plan on scoping it the sight would probably get forgotten in a drawer somewhere. I'm not familiar with the 510's, just the earlier Nylons, but shouldn't the 510 X have a grooved receiver?

It does have a grooved receiver. I just didn't know what that mount type was called, and now that I've googled it, I'm not sure what size it is, but I can measure it. Thanks for that. Is there an iron sight that could fit on the slotted receiver? Just so I have something until I can find a fairly priced rear sight. I think I remember my grandfather had a .22 that had something like that. I don't remember the make, but I know it was a gill gun that had the tendency to run away and fire full auto. I thought it was great, my parents, not so much.

I have a 512x that was missing the rear sight when I got a few years ago. I finally picked one up on the big auction sight with a group of other sights. I see them often on the site go for 125-150 so that's normal. The receiver should be grooved for standard 3/8" rings which are readily available. You should post an ad for want to buy in the classifieds here and you might be surprised what is out there.
