Just curious -- if you decided you were ready for a globe-trotting adventure would you be ready to go?

Had two passports when in the military and assigned to NATO and travelling to Turkey and Greece. Each was suspicious of the other.
Flash back.....on my way to Greece and at the terminal I was muttering to myself (out loud) as to which passport I should use. The lovely young lady behind me asked if I was some kind of government agent (think 007). Long story short she was a travel agent and had free drink coupons for the flight and we kinda connected. We shared our Greek contact info while on the flight. When we arrived and were in a long passport control line, my Greek military contacts approached and took me out of the line. That only confimed to her I was (play the mysterious music)...which was not really true but helped later when she and I connected...but that's another story.

Currently have only a civilian passport good until 2030....and since I live the 'free state' of California I need it to buy ammunition. (I could do so (buy ammo) with a 'real ID' drivers license but am too cheap to pay the State for one)

Traveling is great….everything but the traveling part. Long flights are tiring….of course I’m getting old. Flew over to Paris and took a train to Amsterdam and then flew back. We enjoyed it all very much. but some places are overcrowded with tourists in the popular seasons including our National Parks. Travelling to Houston in a week or so….won’t be much fun as I’m getting a chunk of my large intestine removed. Just got back from getting chunk of my bladder scraped out. No fun there either. On the other hand….hoping this all keeps me going for more adventures. We generally try to dance around the edges of the popular times when all the tourists will be clogging up the works and irritating everyone. You will also need your driver’s license with the star. You need that for anything stateside…passport only for entering foreign places and returning. So when you go make it for long enough to make the trip worth the hassle.

BTW,The last time I got my Passport, I went down to the Post Office, applied, got my photo taken and had the passport 9 days later.

Have in the past, but not now. Will likely get a passport card in place of Real ID. You can use them to fly domestically or by land or ship in North America or the Caribbean. They look something like a red, white, and blue credit card so can fit in your wallet with ease. I also like that you can use them for ID for many other purposes, but it does not have your home address on them. Cheaper than the Real ID license too considering they are good for 10 years. $65 first time and renews for $30.

It’s nice to have one handy. I do and I never know when I’m heading south. Depends on if they are hot on my trail or if they are even still looking.

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?

Come down from your fences, open the gate It may be rainin, but there's a rainbow above you You better let somebody love you.

You better let somebody love you before it's too late

Yep, I got one. This one has no stamps though, hasn't been that long ago I renewed it. Went on a hunting trip to Scotland in 1997. Would like to go back and be a tourist. That is about the only place I would need a passport for, like many have said, not a big desire to travel. Some places in the States I would like to see, but nothing on the radar. Retirement first, then deciding where to go or what to do.
