What about the 6.5 Swede? It has been taking game for 100 years. I am looking into one in a modern action so I can load to higher pressures than the vintage milsurps.

Mals
They hold more powder than the Creedmoor. I wanted less, not more -- something more pleasant to shoot.

But if super-high velocity is what you want, well, there you go.

One day I will tell the story of the Marlin and Tasco vs. Anschutz Swarovski...great fun.....Lever 30-30 vs AR was also a good day.
Yeah, well, show up at a 600- or 1,000-yard match and let us know how you and old Betsy did against the serious guys.

It's true that nothing is "perfect" but that doesn't mean choice does not matter.

Another very good cartridge, that is really very ahead of its time.

Guy that lives behind me has one....milsurp.....his father had it for years....he remembers it as a kid, so in his family at least 40+ years.

I have seen him hit a steel plate (painted bright orange, our eyes are not as good anymore) about 12" at 300 yards magazine after magazine.

I was impressed....and it was on the other side of a lake...so air temps and such had to be all over the place.
The 6.5 is a great caliber for accuracy or it would not have slowly taken over the PRS crowd the way it has. I was shooting 4" groups at 300 yds yesterday with my Grendel, and I think I can get them even better than that with some tweaking.

I have a 6.5X55 Swede. built on a Rem 721 , I really haven't played with it much, really just bought it cause I had a couple of Swede Mausers. The long action should let me try some longer bullets.

6.5x47 (6.5x204) or 6.5x45 (6.5 TCU). Love the Grendel, but the x47/x45 should to simplify things for brass acquisition. Quite a bit of information over at Steelchickens.com about the inordinate amount of energy transfer that those little cartridges achieve.
