I have an old Winchester 22 short/long/lr tube fed semi auto. Dad gave me this gun when I was around 14 yrs old (I'm currently 60 yrs old) and it was old then. I have shot it a gazillion times and have had it so long I have forgotten it more than once then find it in a closet or under the bed! I don't feel like digging it out but I think it is a Model 90 - does that sound right? It's probably from the 50's or 60's (like me!) Great shooter but lousy trigger. Now that I finally found a range to shoot at I am thinking about throwing a scope on it and seeing what kind of groups it'll shoot.

Ah nice! I grew up were we could shoot clay pigeons in the back yard. My Dad had me walk to a sand bank to shoot my Winchester 57 short safely (even though no houses within 2 miles of our backyard.) Taught me well, could have been someone walking in the swamp behind the house I couldn't see. Those were good times!

Glad your works great, I was given a 190 by a Family friend, I think the reason was it wouldn't work and it was made on Friday afternoon or Monday morning. You couldn't fire 3 rounds with a jam. There wasn't a Smith around back then and my Dad wasn't about to go looking for one so I traded when I was about 13 or 14. I did like the lines of the rifle though.

I'm not much on selling firearms, so this one sticks in my memory after all these years.

I'd picked up the 290 version of this rifle at a yard sale for a discount price, and was surprised by its function and accuracy. When a good friend mentioned that he wanted to give his son a .22 for Christmas, but was a little short on funds, he asked my opinion on how to get the most bang for his buck. I wound up trading it away for a rick of oak firewood he'd cut to make extra money.

Everyone WON on this particular deal, and I even get to still shoot it around the holidays, although now it belongs to his grandson
