New (to me) MK III 22/45 Hunter 5.5"

I saw this last Saturday and decided if it was still available after Christmas I would buy it. I really wanted the 6 7/8" barrel (I've got 3 Buckmarks with 5 1/2" barrels), but this looks great! I didn't handle it when I first saw it, but I knew that if it was in as good shape as it appeared to be, there wasn't anything I couldn't fix.

The trigger has very clearly had work done to it, but I'll need to do the LCI and mag disconnect. It only took me 2 tries to figure out how to put it back together, so I'm not crying like some do about the MK III.

Already ordered extra mags, and I'm planning on putting a dot on it, just haven't decided which mount yet.

My daughter is making a pretty hard play for me to give her this one instead of the Buckmark I bought for her. This is a lot prettier, which makes the choice harder (I'll probably end up giving it to her and look for an all stainless MK IV 6 7/8" Hunter for me, but i want to at least put a few 100 rounds through it before i give it away, lol)

I own a MKIII Standard 4.75" barrel and a Ruger 22/45 RP. If I could only have one, I'd choose the 22/45RP. Why?

1. The 22/45 RP model has a 1911-esque grip, and feels good with the cocobolo grip panels.

2. The 22/45's front sight is easily swapped. I put on a hi-viz front sight. The MKIII Standard has a fixed front blade.

3. The weight of the bull barrel on the 22/45 mitigates recoil better.

Both the 22/45RP and the MKIII Standard are excellent weapons. The pro's of the MKIII Standard:

1. Classic look

2. Has a Luger-like feel to it
