New England Custom Gun peep sight feedback ?

Poking around the internet, I was reminded of the New England Custom Gun peep sight manufactured for the CZ 527 carbine. Here is link to the unit.

This sight attaches directly to the 16mm dovetails on the actions. My CZ Carbine is scoped (vintage Weaver K3 post w/ horizontal hair), so I would have to remove it to test this unit if I purchased it. With my eyesight and thick cover, I think I would have better luck with the scope. My use with factory rear blade was very short - I was mainly interested in scoping it.

But I am still curious about the sight - does anyone have first hand knowledge of it ? If you do, I'd appreciate your insights and experiences.

I have one mounted on a cz 550 and it works very well. It is a quality product. I have the rear sight in place, but; to get the best (or proper) field of view that needs to be drifted out. The NECG sight is excellent.

The sight can be easily removed and if using factory rings or other QD rings a scope can be swapped back and forth easily.

When Brno was making the 550, it was called the 600 std or 602 mag the rear peep was integrated into the rear of the receiver. Or some were. You push a little button and it would pop up. Or press it back down and flip up the rear notch sight or mount the scope. I have a 600 like that. It is a slick setup. As for NECG, it gets 2 thumbs up from me.

I too am really interested in the NECG aperture sight. I probably would have bought one already if they hadn't been sold out of patridge front sights for the last several months (looks like they're finally back in stock). I also don't want to have to remove the factory rear sight though, since apparently it's a non-standard size and you can't easily get a dovetail filler to fit.

fourbore, did you have to replace the front sight on your 550?

No change, I used the front sight. The gun is a 550 magnum in 458 Lott. It shoots very low and needs a good Leupold to get it zeroed. I probably should have sent it to CS for a fix. It works well and I decided to leave well enough alone. I flip up the 200 yrd rear blade to get it to zero at 50 yards. That gun is not typical. YMMV.
