Need Benjamin Sheridan 397 Advice

I have a Benjamin Sheridan model 397PA in .177 cal.

This design has been around for decades. It used to be called the "Blue Streak". It is a multiple pump rifle. I bought this one 2nd hand, don;t know the mfg date but it's new enough the serial number is dot matrix engraved.

Anyway it has developed a problem - try to pump it up and it generates little or no pressure.

I removed what I think is the valve assembly. It's a brass cylinder 3.33" long and .77" diameter. It has an o-ring around both ends. The o-rings are flattened on the OD but no cutting or chunking.

I've been looking at parts on PyramidAir. There appears to be a kit which consists of 2 or 3 o-rings for this valve. Looks to me like there's an o-ring on the piston and one on the bolt but Pyramid does not offer these.

Brings up several questions I could use some help with.

1. Anyone resealed a valve like this and was it successful?

2. Did Crosman buy out Benjamin Sheridan?

3. If I bought a new Model 397 does Crossman sell all parts if it breaks?

Thanks

Yes, Crosman bought out Benjamin/Sheridan in the early 90s. The current Benjamin 397 is an all Crosman production gun, as are all current guns with the Benjamin name and they do carry a warranty through the company.

Could be seals or it could be the valve, but the valve and other parts changed on the 397/392 over the course of the Crosman buy out and transition to the current 397, so I would first call Crosman and see what they have to offer for help.

A long time ago my cousin had one and I thought it was a fine piece of gear. Took me 40 years to get around to buying one. I bought a used one because I could not imagine they were still in production. Turns out I was wrong about that.

I find the multi pump feature to be a good thing - set the power level to the task.

Learned that pellet brand has a big effect on accuracy. When I started using decent pellets it became a fun and useful rifle. Hope I can get it running again.
