ah yes , that bug , you will be on a forever quest as there are so many out there that are high end , i have a lot of revolvers in 22cal but none of mine are all that high end - the webleys will command top dollar in their realm , my dan wesson might get there in its , but the rest are basic everyday versions of each mfgr i have bought , same with the semiautos ,

ive found its not the "best" that makes me happy its the standards of the industry that in some cases are well used but still very much intact and servicable , one of my favorites is my colt peacemaker that has no finish left at all but is all original and works fine - all the parts have minimum wear , but it saw service till it became an ugly duckling , i love this revolver and take it with me to the range every trip even if i think its dead weight , i shou;ld get a holster t carry it in ....,maybe one day soon ,

Funny you mentioned your Colt SAA or Peacemaker, I have a 2nd Gen Colt SAA in .357 mag. with a very nice holster belt set up, but the revolver is pristine and I'd like to keep it that way, so, I've been checking out Ruger Vaqueros, and the Italian copies.
But the high end 22 in question would be a S&W revolver, I'll take my time till a deal falls in my lap. You never know, I bought a Marlin 22 mag lever action from my neighbors yard sale for $20.00! The old boy, 89 years old, had won it in a sales contest in 1959 when he worked at a hardware store, he never fired it, just stuck it in the closet. I was just the first one to get there.
