Mounting a Red Dot on a Mark IV

Well, I just ordered my Ruger Mark IV target to use in some league shoots with a red dot. I also have a Vortex Venom on the way- I had plans of also getting a Tandemkross Shadow Mount for it, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Any suggestions on mounts that are available now? The first league is in April that I would use it in, but if I don’t get it set up in time I can use a buddy’s and give myself more time, I think the next red dot event I would be joining would be in June.

if you decide to upgrade from the Venom (I have several that were purchased before I became a Holosun fan) you might take a look at a HS 407/507,,, the 407 is about $60 cheaper than the 507 but has only the dot reticle not a circle+dot option.... both have solar cell and shake awake... if you change to a speed shooting discipline like Steel Challenge the large 510c has a much larger and flatter concave front lens, and you don't have to search for the dot... ....my MKIV has upgraded Volquartsen firing pin and extractor, but does not cycle CCI SV or Green Tag reliably... I shoot CCI Blazer, but I don't compete in a sport requiring accuracy... good luck with your new sport... regards

For me, I only use the full length mounts. Have a rifle scope in AR style rings that clears the sights I can use for 50 yard ammo testing. Can also use the nice two ring UltraDots that for me are superior to any micro dot and I have and use three different brands of. Total flexibility including open sights that are also fun to shoot. Turns one pistol into 3 or more turning a mount screw or two! Can't do any of the above with the cute low mount base.
