Thanks in advance for your help here. I'm looking for 22lr muzzle brakes most effective at eliminating muzzle rise. My daughter will use it on rifle and pistol. I'm not too concerned what gun it's meant for as long as it'll fit a threaded barrel. I'm thinking multi-chamber & primarily top (or maybe side) ports. Easy to clean and thoughts on cleaning solvents would also be appreciated. Links to other posts would be great also.
Thanks

I can say from experience that a good muzzle brake on a 22lr does make a difference in the amount of muzzle rise. I doubt I was using the best 22lr brake on the planet so if I'm going to buy a brake why spend money on a dozen different brakes trying to find the best one when there's so many knowledgeable shooters here who have surely tried them all. If it makes a few hundredths of a second difference on a stage x 16 runs per match it can add up. I'm not talking for a adult either. She's a 12 year old girl shooting a pistol and a 3.8# rifle.
Has anyone tried the Tactical Solutions Performance Muzzle Brake? They make at least 2 different brakes. I'm looking at the 3-chamber brake - 2 top ports and the third one is to the sides.
I haven't used many brakes on 22lr. The only brakes I've used that seemed to make any difference had top ports only. I couldn't tell any difference when using the single-chamber compensators with ports on all sides. I've had them work on .300 Win Mag but not 22lr.
Jon P & GH41, Which brakes are you using that you didn't see any difference from?
Thanks again for your help. All input is appreciated.

This is second hand anecdotal evidence so please take this for exactly what it is worth.

Based on a recommendation I do plan to purchase one as a $29 or $49 experiment for a Tippmann I am setting up for Metal Madness.

I had a chance to meet the gunsmith from Tippmann at an event earlier this month. We talked at length and one of the subjects was muzzle devices. I had him change my barrel to the lightweight fluted barrel, and I had a compensator on it.

He asked how I liked it and I didn't really have an answer. I was using it as a thread protector because I shoot rimfire almost exclusively suppressed. I am looking at getting an effective brake because subsonic suppressed ammo will not reliably trigger the shot timer.

He works on their warranty guns a does quite a bit of function checking on customer guns. He said that of all the stuff he has tested on customer guns, one stood out as having no muzzle movement.

The Carolina Crusher from Wiland Industries. When I looked at their site, they have another one that's a little more expensive but was developed with a competitive shooter so I am not sure which one I will get but I'm going to try one of them.

I figure the gunsmith at Tippmann has tried a lot more brakes on their guns than I ever will so I will try one and if it doesn't work I'll chalk it up to the learning process.
