New member. I wish I would have found this forum sooner.
I have a Mossberg 42b that was my dads. It is the first firearm I ever shot. it was in rough shape when I received it. It had surface rust from muzzle to bolt, bore was in good shape with minimal rust, it was missing no.4 peep sight , front sight hood, and some screws.
Stock is in good of shape for a rifle that had spent many years of its life behind the seat of a pickup. The butt plate is broken.
Well, after a complete tear down, many hours with 0000 steel wool,bluing is nice and shiny, cleaned stock now has a great looking patina, purchasing a no.4 sight, getting hood, getting bore in good shape, I am now in the home stretch of the restoration of a really good looking rifle.
I have a few questions. Rear sight mount screw? does anyone have a pic of what it should be? I have seen at least two different ones. I need whatever would be correct. Where can I get one?
Where can I get bolt cover screws?
Where can I find a buttplate? I bought one from Ebay ,but it is a tad too long and skinny.
Any help would be appreciated.

Weaver scope base mounting screws work quit well to mount the cover---find the shortest one!!

Nice, I am going to have to dig mine out and take it shooting. Problem is they should all come out for some shooting. I thought when I retired I would have more time to do that.
