I've searched everywhere for a set of grips without the arch for my 3 year old Model 41 with no success. Something similar to 1911 grips. Before I take a sander to the factory grips, does anyone have a suggestIon where to buy grips without arch. Herrett Trainers are no longer being made. Thanks.

I would buy the available grips and sand those. When you say sand, I would try to rough it out with a wood working file or any file and take the opportunity to try and blend it in and refinish a nice as I could. Regardless of how you deal with the grip modification, IMHO -The 41 cost to much money to trash the resale reworking original grips.

I am assuming you cannot or prefer not too buy a LH and RH pair and use the two flat sides. Or a single LH set and use the one panel you needed.

I did a Google search, Hogue appears to offer redwood flat side grips. Also LH grips.

If you can't find non-arched grips to your liking, before you rasp or sand down your factory grips take a look at Altamont grips on eBay or elsewhere. They are a close copy of the factory grips, but cost very little. If you don't like your first attempt at modification, you can try again on another pair. -Ed

Checkout Precision Target Pistol Grips

He will make grips to your specification. 3D printed I have 4 sets. Once he knows you size he can make you grips for any gun. I have a Benelli MP90 in 22lr, with a very nice custom grip. I picked up a MP90 in 32swl. I sent him my custom grip and he copied it perfectly. So now I have a 22lr and 32swl with the same grip. I then asked if he could mimic the Benelli grip on to a S@W 41 frame. There are limitations because the Benelli has the more modern sloping grip angle. So with a magazine in the grip there are limits to what you can do, but he got it close enough to be practical.

I am not sure what the status of the Herrett Company is at this present time. If you go their website and look under "Custom" grips you will find a picture of the Trainer grips. It's quite possible if you call them they will make you at set of these grips as a custom offering. This is exactly what I did a few years ago when the company was attempting a come-back of sorts. I called them and they made me a set of Trainers. I haven't needed anything from them lately so I don't know what is going on with them right now. And yes the mag release button sticks out a bit, but I like the way it works as it makes it easy to operate the button for me.

I just got a set of the H-41 stocks direct from Herrett’s. The 45 Trainers T-41 are not being made at this time, the person making them and the custom stocks passed away. At some point they may make them again. They have other stocks not listed, like a K frame round to square conversion target stock. No checkering. Call and leave a messsge they will return your call in a couple of days.
