Hello all,
A fellow shooter let me borrow his BSA Martini. He has moved on to other rifles and thought I would enjoy shooting it after he learned I had rediscovered rimfire. Currently I have two CZ’s a 455FS & a new to me 452UL Super Exclusive. Range time has been spent comparing the two. Both CZ’s are decent shooters. Enter Martini. Love it. Great trigger, heavy barrel just a sweet shooter. First outing was with the Parker Hale sights at 50yds. My old eyes didn’t do that well 1” groups. There was a scope rail on it & he was OK with me scoping it. Groups improved & I am really impressed with the rifle. Don’t know much about the model etc.Think it is a Mark II or III ?. I’ll post some pics maybe someone can chime in? Couple targets to show.

Thanks Sandy22, Litetrigger, groupshooter &sandy22 for responding and ID’ing the model.

Thing is after shooting the Martini it is hard to go back to shooting my CZ’s which I was perfectly content with in terms of accuracy. Now I understand why car salesman put you in the premium model first. Starting to look down the rabbit hole, yikes.

Nice rifle, may I suggest, move up a notch to better ammo.

CCI is not match grade, spend a little more and try some SK ammo.

Std+ (yellow box), SK Rifle Match (red box) which is the best SK in lower mv's. Don't forget to try SK Pistol (green box), Biathlon (blue Box).

Next best in SK is SK Long Range Match, slightly faster but still SV ammo.

If the rifle likes/loves SK, then next step up in ladder or "Rabbit Hole" is Lapua.

Questions for the group. Approximately, how many rounds have you fired with your Martini in the past 6 mos?
What place does the Martini hold in your rotation eg. primary shooter, plinker, everyday shooter,, once in a while for nostalgia, safe queen?

I ask because I am considering the purchase of one. Have just recently shot one for the first time and have been reading and learning about them thanks to RFC. Believe my model is a 12 /15 as identified by a forum member. A little pricey, older rifle reliability, parts etc. However great trigger solid platform, accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Would be my new, everyday shooter. Unlike last week, next outing will be with designer ammo.

Thanks in advance.

If you're worrying about reliability - the BSA 12/15 was the mainstay target rifle in all UK rifle clubs from the mid 50's until well into the '70's, every club in every town had half a dozen as club guns, they received minimal care, cleaning or maintenance and would have accounted for tens of thousands of rounds with seldom any problems.

My plan to use it or designate it as an everyday shooter is a leap. My eyes get fatigued & require rest after about
50 rounds. Twice a week at the range would be a busy range week. I have read through many posts and believe
the Martini is a premium rifle and would suit my level of bench rest shooting quite well. Just one of those things that comes up when your really not looking. Actually trying to thin the heard rather than adding. Getting up there in age don‘t want my firearms to become too much of a burden when I pass.
