Marlin 783 stock thoughts

I have a beautiful .22 magnum Marlin 783, great shape and spends most of life in the safe.
My dilemma is that the stock is almost to pretty to carry the gun hunting in the Everglades.
I like synthetic stocks and am thinking of getting a synthetic stock on the 783.
Where can I get a factory grade synthetic stock for this gun?
Thanks in advance.

I replaced the synthetic stock on my 981TS with a 783 walnut stock. You might be able to reverse that process if you can find a 981T synthetic stock. Check out the sticky at the top of the Marlin Bolt Actions page to see the modifications that were required to fit the 783 stock.

DD sir I can understand where your coming from but every mark, scratch or dent has a story behind it. Nobody wants to drop a rifle in the water. If your worried about your beautiful Marlin then may I suggest you go and find a truck rifle that will serve your purpose and leave the Marlin for less hazardous places.

I have a handful of Marlins myself, I also have a knock your socks off rifle that gets the white glove treatment and only used on Sunday...so I bought a second rifle for the rest of the week. :D The bottom two rifle are identical except for the stock both are 22mags. I also have my nasty weather Marlins need to find that picture. next post.

After your kind thoughts and suggestions plus my searching for a synthetic stock, I feel it best to keep the Marlin 783 magnum for better hunting conditions. When going into the Everglades after the big snakes I will carry my Ruger .22 Single Six with the magnum cylinder plus my machete.
Again, thank you to all who have offered suggestions. At 74 years old I will take all the help I can get.

Also Signalman, very nice looking group of Marlins you have there.
And thanks to "pipestone, toad67 and Drills" for your suggestions.

DD sir no problem glad to help. The one great thing about getting a Marlin Magnum is that most if not all of them are barely shot because the 22mag is a hunting round and not used for plinking or target shooting. I am a magnum lover I have not bought a 22lr since around 2013 or so they have all been either 17hmr or 22mag rifles. So go find a beat up one that is still new inside and go have some fun in the wet stuff. :bthumb:
