I bought a marlin 783 22 magnum when I was younger, not sure what year, maybe late 1970"s from J. C. Penney's for $75.00. got older, sold the rifle, wish I would have keep it now, Saw one on gunbroker just like it, Excellent condition, 99% overall , with factory marlin sling, MFG 1980, got outbided on it. gun sold for $645.00 and $35.00 shipping, My question is this about a average price, what they are selling for a marlin 783 22 magnum now a days?

WOW  somebody wanted that real bad...most of the time they are 1/2 that unless it's a Ducks Unlimited model with nice wood. I got my 883 NIB for less than $200.

It all depends on who is bidding on them and if two people want it then the price could go high but I don't think I would even go twice the original price of the rifle.

Don't get me wrong but $625 for a Marlin 783 even with a factory sling is super high...but I am not the one who has to have it at all cost.

I think I paid $350 shipped for my 983 Fleur de lis rifle.

883 in front and 983 in back both with Weaver V-16s

side note: I have complete faith in my 883 rifle because of the way it shoots and would I sell it for $650 ??? the answer is not on your life. It's the first rifle out of the safe for any kind of shooting...I even take it with me to go trap or skeet shooting. :D

I did get into a bidding war with someone else for a rifle on GB but I made up my mind I had to have it at all cost because I had looked for about a month and never saw one and when it did show up I had to have it...I paid more than what the 783 went for...and the pictures were bad...so I got so lucky because the price could have gone much higher if the pictures were better. here is the one rifle I had to have and today it's the second rifle out of the safe for any kind of shooting.

My CZ 452 FS in 17hmr with Weaver Grand Slam 4-16x Varmint EBX scope :D

So I have my 22mag and 17hmr rifles. :D :D :D in fact I can't tell you when I bought my last 22lr or even looked at one to buy it's been over 5 years now if not longer. I am a magnum guy. :bthumb:

Just before Christmas I found a 781 & 783 on Armslist on same day from different vendors. Snagged the 781 for $190 and paid $225 for the 783. Both looked great in the pics. I had them hold off on shipping until after the holidays so I’ve not received either yet but am getting anxious to see them in person.

They are out there. Just have to be patient and look daily.
