OK OK like I need another project............

Here it is, straight from Tuck's workshop:

just got it so I gues not being able to go shoot somewhat paid off. stock still needs to be finished but let me tell you its already sanded very smooth. This is my first dealing with Tuck but looking at this I hope not my last.
Plans are to clearcoat the stock and everything be polished aluminum. I have a GM stainless faded-flute that will have a home in this stock. SeanM didn't know where his next mag release for me was going but he does now:bthumb:
As with all the other projects........I'll update as progress happens:)

well Tony I hope that when I do get started on it that I'll be able to do Tuck proud. I'm sure you've seen his excellent talents. I'm not even going to try and compare just going to do a nice smooth clear coat I hope. It is a fine looking piece of wood thats for sure.

Que - That is one fine looking stock. And what do you mean You don't need another project??? Don't tell me you Wife got to you... :D

oh I know I got really lucky in getting this stock. I'd been asking around, dropping a hint or two. as it turned out I guess the timing was right.

Ops do you have any idea what all I have lined up? I just lucked out by getting the 76 rcvr and that lets you off the hook haha. you know I'd been wanting to get one of those for awhile now. heck I even sent a few kind worded PMs to Vincent in hopes he would get rid of his. I well understand why nobody lets them go though.
So I need to finish my 68FG so I can start and finish my 76 Liberty so I can start this maple FG.
currently working on three walnut stock with another enroute. huh....I don't need a job, I need an income. That way I can finish this small list hopefully this year haha

Ofcourse updates to the different threads will be posted as they happen :D

Que, just yanking your chain. I am glad you finally got a '76 receiver - Now Vince and me can have some peace! :D I'll be looking for you new project threads... :bthumb:

Ok Que, you don't suck anymore.
JJ
Dang Que - How do you get on the "Suck" list????

#12 ·
good for you JJ. Proud to be off the "suck" list haha.

jon good start with that barrel. I've used one in a build "Fauxy" and I really like them. now the Tuck has the FGs going almost any good wood FG would be possible. I've got a few walnut stocks and really wanted to get a light colored one just to mix it up abit.

cherry should look really nice also. I plan on using lacqeur to finish it out. going to keep it as clear and non-yellow looking as I can.

hey just wanted ya'll to know.......I ain't complaining about the list of projects. I need the stuff to do and have it waiting on me. I get into trouble when I have nothing to do or plan for. Idle minds.........

Ops its all Tuck's doing. He came up with some nice wood and started making a few FGs. you need to PM him and see what you can work out.
I know you were messing with me Ops..........most everything down here is:D

yes you and Vincent can finally sleep restfully tonight and not have to worry yourselves about which one of you were going to give me thier 76 haha

JJ I must say that was the first "suck" list I've been on. Thank goodness it was short lived. Now there have been other lists well................ I think I'm still on a couple but I do try to watch my back:D

oh and hey Ops.......my 76 thread is "Give Me Liberty". Haven't done anything other than post a pic of the stock it'll be using. I had to post a pic for the pirates ya know:bthumb:

Que I was very happy you were able to complete your Liberty rifle. Not many of them around and I know you appreciate the "Old" rifles as much as Vince and me. :bthumb:

I've read about Tuck's work and have admired it for some time - Thanks for the heads up.

started striping the finish off the rcvr and tg today. I want a highly polished action but what a pain it the tail this is. the rcvr started out with a poor beaten silver finish so it didn't put up a fight to finish getting the paint off and its mostly flat sides. the tg on the other hand is black and has all those crooks to try and get into and remove that paint. I used stripper from WM. it does a good job and caustic as can be. I did the rcvr once and that was easy to remove. the tg has gone through 2 cycles of stripper and there is still black on it in alot of areas. I guess I'll just do the best I can with the polishing. I only have a dremel to do it with so it'll take some time. going to start with sandpaper soon and see what all I can get off there.

A tip on the TG. Use the dremel for the hard to get to places first. Then I like the 3M sanding "sponges" that you can get at wally land or at the hardware store. When I go to paper, I single stroke it, in one direction only. I don't know why, but it seems to help the paper keep from loading up as fast. FWIW

-edit- oh yeah, I forgot, I stripped the paint from the whole TG, but only really polished what was going to be visible. It's much less than you might think. :D
