I've been reading about the Hi-Lux Malcolm 6X Short Rifle Scopes. Hi-Lux is telling me that they will be coming out with a 11mm groove / front dovetail mount that should fit my BL-22 (it is an octagon FLD rifle) in the near future. From what I read, the quality of the scopes is pretty good. But I suppose they are made in China, right? What is your impression of the overall quality of the scope/optics/adjustable rings package? Once I would get the whole package for my rifle we are talking about fair sum of money.

That's going to make a very classic looking rifle/scope package Old Wolf!

I wouldn't worry about the made in China part. As long as high quality is spec'd which is pretty much guaranteed with Leatherwood Hi-Lux, it will be high quality. https://hi-luxoptics.com/pages/our-...tory#:~:text=The competitive advantage for Leatherwood,“Made in China” products.

The only iffy point for me would be "near future." That could mean tomorrow to never.

I really like my 6x Malcom on my Winder musket..Yes kinda a small tube..But the glass is pretty dang nice..I bought mine lightly used and saved some money..Otherwise they are kinda expensive..I do know the rings, mounts that came with my my Malcom wer junk..I have a very nice Unertyl Micrometer on there now..

My Brother is actually a HiLux dealer..

Yours is a nice looking set-up. So you are thinking I may need a better set-up (quality wise) as far as mounting is concerned?

Well I think the originals that came with my scope were surely adequate enough for the mighty recoil of the .17 Mach II...I just like the positive Micrometer click setup, it is just so superior in every way to the original stuff it came with....Mine with the Unertyl mount is actually overkill for a rimfire..But I was very lucky..That Unertyl mount is probably a 250.00 mount..But it was free to me from a buddy that bought a box of "junk" at a auction we were at a couple years ago, that mount was in there....Otherwise I would have lived with the original mount..

The original cheaper ones have no clicks..Just a smooth dial..But for your use they will likely be fine..Just nice to have the positive clicks too, for returning to where you were if you change the adjustment..Have to count the clicks to return to your original zero though..
