I have 2 Tippmans that I set up for different purposes.

The one that is Steel Challenge / Metal Madness oriented has a big window red dot for shooting relatively large targets at short distances really fast.

I have another set up for Appleseed type events and general shooting that I have an LPVO on. It usually has a Leupold 3x9x33 AO scope on it which I really like. At the last event, I used a 1x8 FFP LPVO and like it as well.

I think for a do it all 22, the LPVO makes a lot of sense. You can still have a no magnification red dot as long as the scope is illuminated, but can dial in some magnification when needed for longer shots or smaller targets.

Scopes are more accurate, red dots are more fun. The best sight depends heavily on what you plan to do with the rifle.

 

I had a Swampfox Arrowhead 1x10 on my Tippmann for a couple of years shooting NRA Light rifle with this. Liked that I could turn down the power to 1x or 2x when shooting the target at 50 feet and still be able to use same setup when shooting same match at 50 yards 2 times per year. Then my old diabetic eyes got the best of me and i had to switch out for more power but also the higher power scopes having a parallax adjustment, that was absolutely needed as my eye focus changes. I have looked for an LVPO with a parallax adjustment, have never found one.!!!! I now run a 6x24x50 with a parallax adjustment down to 10 yards and dialed to ring a 2" steel plate at 100 yards consistently, knowing my hash marks for holdovers.!!!!

 

I run green dots on both the rifle and pistol.

 

I use mine for Tactical .22 matches. As these are up close and quick I used a Holosun 510c and could not be happier.
I am putting a second one up for Appleseed. That will be a LPVO…

I have both red dot and LVPO on my 5.56 AR’s. While people will say a good LVPO is almost as fast as a red dot for up close that does not work for me.

I have a M4-22 and installed a Monstrum Banshee 2-10X30 MPVO on it. For $100 this is a very good scope in all regards. It has a BDC reticle with a 2 MOA dot center surrounded by a larger circle and also has vertical and horizontal subtension lines. The vertical lines are spaced for 5.56 ammo. At the range I had it sighted in at 50 yards with CCI Standard and was shooting 1" groups. Then moved out to 100 yards and figured I needed to holdover but the rifle shot high a few inches so I held the dot on the target and hit center of the target! I got the same results with all CCI from Standard velocity to Velocitors. Very happy with the results with the Monstrum scope. It even came with a cantilever scope mount. I had no problem with parallax, down at 2 power I could still get clear focus down to just a few feet.

I'm using my Tippy for precision target competition @ 50m.
I've got a 4-16 x 50. Prone position off-hand (wording?) I use 7x magnification. From bipod 10x or 12x does a good job.
A friend of mine has got a very light-weight 3-9 x something. She also uses 7x prone off-hand.
Imho a parallaxe adjustment is mandatory for precision shooting.It is by far more important than high magnification.
