So on a total impulse, I picked up this Llama mini 1911 at my LGS. Didn't need it, but I was so impressed with the quality, I decided it would be a nice plinker. Ran 5 rounds through it and it fed, fired and ejected nicely.

Any information as to the Model # and where I might pick up an extra mag would be appreciated.

Thanks, Art

These are very nice mini 1911 style. Officially, they are Llama XV models. Except for the 1911 style grip, they are a basic blow back .22 pistol. They were made over a long period, first in steel frame and later in alloy from models. The steel frame ones are worth a bit more. The steel frame ones had checkered walnut grips. It looks like your model is a later alloy froame model with plastic grips. The tend to be good shooters. Looks like someone bubba'd an extended magazine on yours. You can search eBay and other sites for an original magazine, although they tend to be pricey.

The only source for magazines other than finding used mags are Triple K. The Triple K mags get mixed reviews in the Llama 22 LR mini 1911 and are expensive. A few friends of mine have the Llama mini 1911 22 LR pistols. Generally Llama quality varies from one example to the next but overall the 22 LR 1911 are fun to shoot.

Triple K list magazine are linked below.

I have the 22 version as well. I got lucky and found a pair of original mags for mine on ebay. But you have to know what you are looking at, because the mags are sort of unique on the baby LLama's. I will have to look, but I may have an extra mag available. If you don't hear back from me in a couple days, shoot me over a reminder.

Also been eyeing a 380 for a good while now, but he want budge on his price.

They can be very nice pistols. Looks good. In the same vein as astra and star pistols. Unfortunately rather hard to find parts. Maybe sarco or numrich. If only triple k that would be too bad. Those mags, for any pistol either seem to work or are crap. Thus cliche of "crap shoot". Also very difficult to find small parts. I have a decent collection of star&astra pistols. Brittle firing pins. I scooped up a few and don't dry fire them. Enjoy it, and hope you get that spare mag!

I've had the Llama XV for a month now and really like how it feels and handles. It's all steel construction just feels good in the hand. I did pickup a couple OEM mags and have had minimal problems, and any issues are magazine related. A little tuning and it runs great, but it definitely runs best with CCI Mini-Mags. I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5.
