Let’s see your dogs!

I really enjoy having dogs around. They make everything better. If you have a story to go with your dog, definitely share it.

I’ve got Robbie. He’s a black mixed terrier. He was a stay in the projects where I work. My precious dog had passed swat and I wanted another dog.

My partners and I saw him often. We finally lured him to us. I couldn’t take him home that night, so my buddies dropped him at the shelter. He had to stay for two weeks and if nobody claimed him, he would come home with me.

I visited him before each shift every single day, and finally he was able to leave with me. He’s crazy smart add athletic. He’s stupid fast as well. He’s just too amazing to have been a stray. Someone missed out on a special pup.

I named him Robbie because he just looked like a Robbie from day one.

My other dog is a Yorkshire Terrier. Her name is Hershey. I didn’t name her. I got her from a Domestic Call for Service one night.

The arrangement was that I’d keep her for three days until her owner found a place to stay, and return her.

Three days turned into a month. Eventually, Sarge was concerned that I’d be sitting in IA trying to explain why I took a full breed dog from a citizen and demanded that I get a letter from her owner, saying that she gave her to me.

I sent her owner photos of Robbie and Hershey each day, so she would interact with me daily.

She wrote a kind letter and now she’s my dog.

Super high energy! She loves her toys and plays fetch to no end. She’s really sweet and there’s never been a person that she doesn’t like.

Wife and dogs while camping, the big white dogs are definitely our thing. Their gentle friendly nature adds calm wherever we go. Our pyr puppy Lilly is a playful silly fun gal.
Old jake is definitely an old guy. He is an Akbash that our son snagged and then moved to an apartment so we kept Jake at the retirement home.
We enjoyed him so much we searched until we found a farm where we could get a puppy and the wife is going after him in mid February. I am truly excited for our addition!!

I’ve got two. A Jack Russel / Boston Terrier mix named Ted who’s the perfect Lap Dog for the wife, and Hannah, our German Shepherd / Husky mix, who is a very aggressive guard dog. I walked into a moose one night trying to get firewood, and Hannah was on her in an instant. The moose couldn’t put a hoof on her, and Hannah was jumping up, dancing around, biting her in the flanks and hamstrings like a professional fighter. Realized watching her, that she’d done this rodeo before!

That’s pretty wild! I’ve never seen a moose in the wild yet. That’s a good dog!

This is our pup Eva. We got her back in 2019 after my wife and I decide not to have kids. I'd always wanted a dog and mainly held off because we'd planned to have kids and I didn't think we could afford both at the time. I've always loved Pitties and wanted to rescue one.

We found a listing for pit mix puppies on petfinder.com one weekend while my wife was still trying to decide if she was up for getting a dog. We drive down to a ranch area near our house in Southern California after I talked her into just going to see them. My wife played with both of the female puppies and just feel in love. She was very unsure about getting a puppy because of how busy work and life had been. She said "F*ck it, I don't want to keep putting off things because of work", and we left with this little cutie.

We were totally unprepared so we had to stop by the pet store on the way home to get a crate, food, pads, etc. It was quite the experience, but both my wife and Eva did great on the ride home.

She is now 6 years old and still has loads of energy. We move to Oregon back in 2021 and she really loves the PNW. The cooler weather and extra space makes for much better fetch sessions. She also has lots of friends here as many of our neighbors have dogs.

She's even come on trips with us to places like Banff and Glacier National Park.

Dogs are the best and we are thinking about getting a second maybe this year or next.

It's sad that pitties have gotten such a bad reputation over the years. In my career in LE, I dealt with a lot of dogs while working shifts in which we didn't have an ACO on. I have been bitten probably a dozen times over the years and not a single bite was from a pittie. I can't even remember any overly aggressive pitbulls. My sister has one and it is probably the sweetest dog I have even been around.

Always had shelter dogs. All but one pitbull variety. Lost my white pocket pit to cancer 1 1/2 years ago. My wife and daughter found this brindle rascal. Named him Murphy (Murphys Law). He is a sweet boy. In retirement or whatever you call it he is my best friend. Like my dogs very much. RIP Elena. She was a sweetheart.

Our last one died Dec 2020.

My wife has been hinting wanting another. The last 2 were teacup poodles, about 8 pounds each.

Last July my wife found a post on FB from a lady that had found pup and couldn’t find the owner so was looking for someone to adopt her. Naturally my wife said this was “The one.”

We drove about 90 miles one way to get her. She rode home sitting in my wife’s lap, ate good when we got her home and slept all night in the kennel. We took her the the vet the next day. She weighed 22 pounds. They are guessing part Aussie and part blue healer. They estimated her to be about 3.5 months old so we called her an April first baby.

She weighed 65 pounds at the vet a few weeks ago.

My wife named her Patches. She’s been a hand full as this is the first big dog we’ve ever had but she’s gonna be a keeper.

She is cute as a button. I can certainly see some heeler in her, that means she is likely smarter than most humans. That will make her a handful for sure. She will be a good one though.
