Hello kseatm!! I really do appreciate your thoughts on the quality & increased performance of the XTSP trigger. The rifle I have I believe has the potential of winning my league with help from the guy the applying pressure to the trigger. Money is not really factor if I can improve my skills (trigger time) and scores with this trigger and win my league.
Thanks!! Brian
Brian,
If I could figure out how to get my stupid photo account to work, I'd send you some pics of just how accurate these can be. At one time, when the idea of the XTSP trigger was in the "idea" stage, a fellow member here (willymakit) or something like that spoke to Tom Myers about building one for the 82G. The trigger platform was already in existence on other rifles, but the idea of transitioning over to the 82G held enough merit that Tom went ahead with it. I can't remember the engineer that was the conduit between my testing and final development, but he was simply awesome. I received a prototype, played with it, shot it, called and spoke to the engineer with ideas that I thought would be an enhancement, and he actually not only listened but explained the how and why certain ideas might or might not work.
At the time of testing, I was shooting at an indoor range, on IR 50 targets at 50 yards, using the best BR ammo I had available. As mentioned, I'd shot BR before with this gun, along with several other rifles. So, I wasn't any kind of expert, but didn't just fall off the turnip truck either.
It was neat testing and tweaking. I found that I could get an even lighter pull by taking out the first stage completely, tweaking the sear engagement spring and also installing another arm that Tom sent to try.
If you like two stage triggers, this is simply awesome. If you like single stage triggers for BR shooting, you can make it do that too and really enjoy it. I think of it as an Anschutz 5018 two stage match trigger without the bells and whistles. It's that good!
One thing, you can reverse the trigger shoe to have either a straight stem or the curved part touching your finger. On the bench, I liked the straight stem with a small oring on it to use as a reference point for trigger pull and control. If I'm not mistaken, you can install an aftermarket Anschutz trigger shoe if you so desire. It's been a long time since I went through all of this.
Somewhere on here is a couple of threads that I started about the trigger, my testing, results and impressions. The photos probably won't still be active, as photobucket took a crap on me not long after that. But some decent info in there if you don't mind listening to a goober like me.
Again, good luck. You'll like the trigger. Tweak it to your preference and then come back and give your impressions. I haven't been on here for quite awhile so lost track of the progress or results of these triggers.
